In response to a terror attack carried out on Thursday in India. The Indian prime minister has given his military a free hand to respond to the alleged perpetrators. Pakistan.
In the manner they see fit.

www.businessinsider.com...

This is a very bold statement by the PM.

Two nuclear capable countries going head to head.

It’s about to kick right off

It's never good to hear things escalate in that area.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and India's military leaders will show restraint.

I have only basic familiarity with the conflict, but it does seem Pakistan is a sponsor of terrorism.

Are there UN sanctions already? Would it be an option for a coalition of countries to preemptively remove the nuclear threat?

India and Pakistan have been going at it for years.

Nothing has happened yet.

I can't help but notice that article is 100% "India says..."

They couldn't even shoehorn a "Pakistani officials deny ..." or a "Pakistani officials declined to comment ..." into the article.

I think someone is tuning up the war drums. But I'm sure the United Nations will do their jobs, step in and keep the peace. It's time to earn those salaries and cushy offices.

I certainly didn't mean use of nukes. My question was more like do we know what they have, and where? Coalition air power is pretty impressive.

It's kind of late to worry about it after something has happened isn't it?

Never going to happen OP.

India will never have a war with Pakistan in my opinion because they see each other as the same people.

I doubt that India or Pakistan will ever have a war with a bordering Asian country.

There is bad blood in India with Pakistan but they wont kill each other. In my opinion they still want to destroy the UK for ruling over them. over the years throught their history they went to war with Europe time and time again. I doubt that will change in the future.

Misleading. Business Insider ought be ashamed of itself.

Modi has not given India military free hand to attack Pakistan. He has acknowledged Pakistan government support for some terror groups and tasked his army with affirmative action against those groups. If Pakistan chooses to retaliate and mobilise their army against India's, that could lead to all out war between the two countries.

However, for Pakistan to do so, would constitute outright admission they fund terrorism. In the (unlikely) event Pakistan declares war on India, they risk losing support from other anti-terrorism nations and as I suspect, would not want to offend any of their global financial partners.

No, they definitely hate each other.

India only has nukes because A.Q. Khan developed them for Pakistan first. In the same vein as the US/Russia Cold War mutually assured destruction policy, India and Pakistan are ready to wipe each other out should one launch their nukes first.

Somehow i don't see them trading nuke strikes over a terror attack.

The only way we will see that happen is if/when the terrorists detonate a nuke/dirty bomb.

You are free to believe whatever you wish.

My opinion stays the same.

If India or Pakistan go to war it will be against a European country.

Last time Pakistan fired a missle at another country was when they fired into Israel during the Lebanon skirmish.

India & China are allies in the BRICKS alliance.

There is a border dispute with India and China but they are still allies.

They wouldnt go to war with each other. However they would defend each other against a common foe.

I was thinking more along the lines of Pakistan and China to be honest.

Geopolitical situations change, when is the last time China expanded there empire?

Realistically that's going to change at some point.

The common foe, and a thorn in the paw Middle East wise is Israel, we should know, after all, we helped create the whole debacle in the first place.

They are kind of the new Protestants and Catholics of the new millennium.

So you could be right i suppose, the truth is they are more similar than different.

A trait we all share.

End of the day it's class war, not a religious war, always has been always will be.

Whom, specifically, are you referring to when you say "we" helped create the entire debacle with Israel?

That would be the ""apparent"" winners of WW2.

Pretty much my own nation and America.

And behind them, the bankers, and other nefarious bastards that profited from both sides of the fence during the second world war.

You see "They" simply had to set the stage for the next serious of wars to occur thus generate profit.

Which is kind of what the whole Middle East debacle is all about.
