Amazon set their own minimum wage at $15/hr, isn't that what so many people protested for? Go figure, you get $15 and then want more, here's my shocked face.

$15.50 would have been better 😎

Vote for people like her Democrats, the businesses will set up their businesses in areas where people want jobs instead of tax money to fund the wasteful spending practices of the tax crazed Democrats.

People keep making this claim and yet California's GDP growth continues to outpace the rest of the country. If using tax dollars to fund social programs is supposed to chase away big money why do major corporations and the wealthy continue to flock to California?

If he comes up here to visit for a day, he will not be homesick for ten years or more.

Those wondering how many zeros Amazon, which is valued at nearly $800 billion, has to pay in federal taxes might be surprised to learn that its check to the IRS will read exactly $0.00. According to a report published by the Institute on Taxation and Economic (ITEP) policy Wednesday, the e-tail/retail/tech/entertainment/everything giant won’t have to pay a cent in federal taxes for the second year in a row. This tax-free break comes even though Amazon almost doubled its U.S. profits from $5.6 billion to $11.2 billion between 2017 and 2018. To top it off, Amazon actually reported a $129 million 2018 federal income tax rebate—making its tax rate -1%.

It is because they over paid in previous years...

To be fair, NYC probably wouldn't be seeing that tax revenue. Your average Amazon worker doesn't make enough to afford rent in the city. Especially since an Amazon HQ would drive up housing prices. Most of that tax income would have gone to Jersey.

The businesses there pass the cost on to the consumer, buying cheap products from China and sticking a part on them and selling them as Made in America. There are a lot of people in California that are being supported by the import businesses and of course, technology giants are there too, but remember, technology companies make a lot of money, they buy lots of stuff from China and sell their stuff worldwide.

Average salary of those going to NYC would be around $130k/yr.... these are corporate jobs, not warehouse workers. They would have lived in Manhattan. No young millennial programmer wants to live in Jersey. Also, IIRC, NY still taxes Jersey residents who work in the city.

There are examples like this on both sides of the spectrum, lower corporate tax rates drawing more to do business there, hence why Delaware has so many places incorporated there to dodge taxes.

To be fair though, California has the worst total debt figure, and the 14th worst per capita by states. So if their taxes are so high, why can the state not get in the black?
