This negotiation strategy is older than dirt. Neither Trump nor Occipital Kotex deserve credit for this.

Well stated and I think you are quite correct. AOC sees this as a throw down kinda goal thing to push for.

If the Dems can find someone to run for POTUS that doesnt alienate more than half the voters, AOC might just get a lot of what she wants, but not on her time frame.

I am just sort of hoping the US breaks apart before then.

and in the end if we rely on our own oil supply for our needs then good on her

Actually, we as a country are a net exporter of oil now.

We no longer need to import.

So thank Trump and deregulation for that one.

This is what Trump does.....

Looks like AOC is paying attention.

Make Politics Great Again?

Winning?

Naww, she's seriously out of money and needs bus fare to get back to congress. She's walking, and her dogs are barking. She wants to walk, but she can't handle the walk..

More crazy eyes next week, with a big mouth, small face, and a load of bollocks...

Crazy Eye Girl Crazy.

That's real funny stuff!

Why not just tell the truth?

Sure we exported 6 billion barrels last year but we brought in 14+ and used 20+.

Currently it is estimated that we produce 40% of our needs.

I misspoke, sorry.

We are currently a net exporter of ENERGY right now.

First time in what... 75 years or so?

Since Nat Gas also comes from oil wells.

Won't be entirely free of having to import oil till third quarter of 2020.

So you are entirely correct... for last year.

Next year will be entirely different.

And it isn't even that we don't have the capacity... we are short on infrastructure since a lot of money wasn't put into refineries and gas compressors in the Obama years... nobody knew what loony regulations were around the corner. They are building a 2.7 billion dollar Nat Gas plant right down the road from where I work, for instance... plans were approved in 2015 but they were scared to build it until we got a sane President.

I've had to shut 2000-2500 barrel a day well sites down because there was literally nowhere to take the gas to.

THAT's all changing rather rapidly around here.

All Occasional-Cortex's plan will do is cripple the fossil fuels industry again.

Meh, the Democrats have being doing this for decades when it comes to gun control. Look how far they've come in 20-25 years on that issue.

Why wouldn't people talk about it? Is that not what this place is for?

It's funny that its only you Leftys that pull that out.

"Oh no here we go again. Another thread on Hillary/Obama/Occasional/insert topic"

Well yeah, that's what this place is about.

Hopefully she learns well and doesn't fail as much as Trump has.

I'll give it to Trump. He's like the Herpes. He may go away for a while but he comes back.

How has Trump failed ?
Trump can not "go away" .
Why do you say that ?
Trump is President of the US

If you have 10 marbles and I have none, then I would propose "The Green New Deal (for marbles)"

Where I get all of your marbles.

Now you and everyone else will scoff.

So I will compromise and only want to take 5 of your marbles.

Many will say, "Well DB compromised, so this is a good thing!"

And I get to take 5 of your marbles and leave you with 5 less.

Thus endith the lesson.

I do wonder if you know what you are talking about. I see several more little piles in your post but oh well we can't be perfect.

FYI They really do not know how much crude America pulled from the ground last year but we do know we will need Canada's supply. They are expected to double their production by 2020 and i think you may be mixing up the two. As far as the obama admin things n the oil industry were not really as bad as you would like to think. He kept the gears of war oiled well.

I am hoping for actual independence from countries we have had to kill in order to control the supply. With Canada's improvements in 2020 if they let us keep having it we can back off from Venezuela and saudi but from what i can tell we have no plans to do that and instead we will continue to receive crude from as many sources as we can and keep ramping up refineries as you said and just export more oil instead of seeking true independence. I also predict you will convince yourself it is a good thing and cheer them on.

If you only have 10 marbles you can keep them for yourselves. When you have 100 billion marbles then you need to be forced to share a bit.

Doubtful. I think she's dumb enough to think she can push this all through. One day she says we've got 12 years to beat global warming. The next day she says we can defeat global warming in 15 years. She's a gleaming example of what our poor kids are unknowingly suffering through with today's education. That's why nobody cares that liberals brag about being college educated. That's not something worth bragging about these days.

So you justify theft by the amount someone has that you want to steal.

Uhhh, okay.

Only with Trump, because his bad pub was always a twisted and distorted version of what he really said. We're bashing Cortex for things she really says.
