No that conservatives are stoners.

I have a dream that one day, my children will not be judged by their lifestyle, but by how they treat others and what they do for their community.

That they are not judged by the content of their bloodstream, but by the character and successes in life.

I have a dream, that we can end prejudice to those who prefer a different, and more healthy escape.

How does a self confessed "witch" hate on a plant?
Or those that use said plant?

Something seems silly here...

I want a bill put into motion right now. The basic gist of the bill is this. Every politician past or present "living", every candidate seeking elected office above county level must release their records to public scrutiny at minimum 6 months before the date of an election.

The house would never put this forward. The senate would never pass this.
The last thing either house wants is more oversight from the electorate.
The less information we get about them the better for them.
The "media" used to be a watchdog for politicians now it is more of a lap dog.

Unfortunately this is not as nefarious as many think.

Free market drove the news which was not so popular a few years ago to implement entertainment and a reality TV type approach on the bastardized version we now have.

People lap it up, eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner.

People don't want the boring facts anymore, they want it to be interjected with all of their confirmation bias in the form of implicating buzz words.

That sounds vaguely like the plot for Anchorman II.

Way to many negative Nellie's around here.
Even if the bill is not passed the voters would see who opposed it and then they have something to consider at the polls.
The next time around it might get farther.

On topic: The whole point of the OP is that this would hit hard against both establishment sides, with transparency, and we would all win. Both establishment ends are hypocrites only working for their selected electorate (Donors, specifically corporate interest).

Off topic: Many people don't care what someone does with their body, especially if it has no proven long term side effects. Being anti-pot is about as unsavory as someone being anti-gay... You're taking a stance on what someone else does that has no impact on you.

True

and True

Who in office at this time would propose this?
I can think of only one person and I am less sure he would now than I would have thought a few years ago.
There are NONE in office I would expect this from.
Not even the "outsider" potus we have.

Ted Cruz introduced a term limit bill that would allow just two terms for Senators

It would end his current job. But it's still the right thing to do.

Good question.
It could be a senator on the way out because of age.
It could be an idealist like aoc.

Maybe Bernie Sanders will practice what he preaches about equality

Do you think we should start in addressing lobbying/superpacs? I'm not saying abolish, but surely some reform could help?

I would think that this bill would take a toll on lobbyists.
The money trail would be much easier to follow.
But yeah, I dont know how anyone would disagree with removing special interest money from politics.

California Sen. Kamala Harris, reiterating her support for marijuana legalization at the federal level, acknowledged Monday that she's smoked pot in the past, saying: “I have. And I inhaled. I did inhale.” The 2020 Democratic presidential contender, in discussing the broader use of the drug, said, “I think it gives a lot of people joy. And we need more joy in the world.”

isn't she the front runner as she is a woman of color?

I think this is a great idea.

I also think it would lead to less partisan drama. We would no longer need to argue about birth certificates and taxes. We would just know the information. I'd like to think it would bring more unity.
