Seattle and surrounding areas were hit with a rare snow storm last week, and again yesterday and all through the night. I have about 8 inches (of snow) on top of 6 from last Monday that hadn't melted yet. Road conditions are extremely treacherous, and it has been much colder than we are accustomed to in this area where we usually receive very mild winter weather. The school kids are loving it, and, apparently so are some otters on VASHON ISLAND. Incidentally, Vashon Island is adjacent to the location of a rather curious UFO incident: Maury Island Incident (1947).

The 1947 Maury Island incident is one of the lesser-known Washington State UFO occurrences, but it should be better known for several reasons. It is probably the first incident where a witness claimed that a “man in black” intimidated him into silence, and it took place before the famed Roswell Crash, yet there were many similarities between the two. Moreover, the two military intelligence officers investigating the sighting died in a tragic air crash before they could complete their investigation. Unfortunately, the two principal witnesses, Harold Dahl and Fred Crisman, became objects of suspicion and controversy as the investigation continued.

Well, this is otterly adorable. A Ring doorbell camera recorded a group of otters playing in the snow on Vashon Island Friday. Pam Brossard shared the footage from her camera on Vashon, an island community about 12 miles southwest of Seattle. Video shows at least five otters rolling around and tussling on a snowy deck and yard on the waterfront.

It's curious to me to think that fascinating scenes like this are happening all over the world, and we only got to see this one because a piece of our technology was in the right place at the right time.

While you're stressing out about bills, you relationship, some otters or meerkats or something are having a playful interlude, a brief respite from the constant struggle to survive... so when they play, it has so much more meaning. It could be the last time they get to play together as a group. One might not be around next time. Heck, one might not be around tomorrow morning. Every day is a miracle.

I love the one belly sliding off the right of the screen. We really should take more time to just "Play".

Although, we have to be bundled up like Yeti's to do so.

So Cute!
