Socialism is great if you're in the ruling class and can maintain your obesity, opulence, and hubris while the pleebs fight over the crumbs your own idiocy has left them with...

Stacy A is the personification of gluttony.

A lot of cookie jars Were Made In Her Image. Elizabeth Warren bought one.

Warren calls it her "wampum jar."

Her essay is excellent. I hope you treat yourself to reading it and deciding for yourself.

Carlson is just jealous he can’t command language as well as her.

Fact: There has been and continues to be systemic discrimination against the communities that Abrams points out.

But the question is, should there be justice metted out on behalf of Americans who have been terrorized by the state based on characteristics of a group? LGBT Americans were deprived of their inalienable right to marry until recently.

No right was granted by the court. It was always there; the court merely recognized it. But the state disenfranchised LGBT people and deprived them the ability to exercise their right to marry.

We demand justice.

lmao, anyone who begged the STATE to be married is an idiot to begin with.

Class can be viewed as an aspect of identity the same as ethnicity or gender.

Sure. The Equality Act is next. It would amend the civil rights act to include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes.

Glad you have a sense of humor!

I understand why those of you who are attracted to the same sex fought for marriage rights. It was over insurance with employers. I agree with that. So yes, you guys/gals/zees got a win. My bitch is why does any human being have to ask the STATES permission to get married?

I'm curious, how does someone, someone who lost, become a rising star??

Her and the Texas nitwit, whose name escapes me at the moment...Rising stars? Now AOC is a rising star, whatever I may think of her politics...she won.

They shouldn't have to. Period. Who someone marries is no ones business but the two, or however many, are involved. Age is the only limiting factor--for obvious reasons.

For an anarchist, you sure do LOVE you some Democratic party and bend over backwards defending them. I see now why so many Democrats were silent on the actions of anarchist terrorist gangs like ANTIFA and Weather Underground over the years. Same horsesnip... different suits.

lol

What else Antifa going to do for allies than lie to Democrats for more bodies on the field?

I just find it ridiculously funny that some anarchists stridently support the party which represents vastly more government control, larger government, more regulations, less freedom...

...all while still being the same kind of stooge minions as the GOP to the same kinds of (all too often diabolical) corporate interests.

Odd, I've read that the other side wanted it for just as long...

Meanwhile, those of us with enough functioning braincells to generate heat, or thought, know the likelihood of a civil war are slim any time soon--or, as I'd certainly prefer, ever.

Civil wars are noisy, and I prefer peace and quiet.

So y'all mind your business, we'll mind ours, and every one will be happy, happy.

...and yet, I only see you in threads that are critical of anything on the left side of the equation, running deflection and yes, defending the leftists.

I have even heavily critiqued american antifa as being nothing but Liberals appropriating "Radical" aesthetics

I honestly believe you just looked in a mirror and described what you saw there.

Maybe it's best we do not categorize people's identity as being "left" or "right" and just stick to the issues. Hopefully, we can agree nobody's opinion is "wrong", "a lie", or "absolutely true". Maybe we can just appreciate everyone's opinion as being respected even if it is different than our own. Maybe then we will find the unity Stacey was trying to get at but not so eloquently expressed.

If opinions were all that were at stake, then sure... but that is not the case, is it? We're talking about differences which directly impact people's money, livlihoods, lives, freedom, rights, etc...

It's a matter of perspective I guess as to which opinions matter and which ones do not. Every public policy that gets passed will have winners and losers. Take the 13th Amendment for example. It really sounds like what you are saying is the same old Republican adage, "I don't care what you think or want. It's my way or the highway for you!"

Gotta love these closet racists who promote racism by hating whitey! The work they go thru to say they are against racism and bigotry by acting out in the exact definition of those two words is astounding.

Pay very close attention to the part at the end where it talks about white people being experts on race:

Unless you've walked in a black man's shoes you really have no idea what it means to be black living in America. I'm sorry, you just don't.

Groups in the country that oppress minorities, simple as that.

No, she specifically said:

"identities that dominant groups have used to oppress"

So what non-marginalized "identities" is she referring to?

"The marginalized, she writes, include “women, Native Americans, African-Americans, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community."

Women = Gender
Native Americans = Race
African-Americans = Race
Immigrants = All Inclusive
LGBTQ = Sexual Orientation

"The whites" aren't in power in the US. Well, those in power are overwhelmingly white...

Based on the 2010 census, African-Americans make up 12.6% of the self-identified population. "Whites" make up 72.4%. Since we're discussing identity politics here, it doesn't take a genius to understand the point Abrams is trying to make, unless you can convince me that 12.6% or less of the population that racially identify as not "white," belong to the majority of groups that oppress the minorities listed.

Let's not forget, there are a lot of white people in those minority groups. Quite a few white LGBTetc folks.

Yeah, but a women's march gets cancelled for being "overwhelmingly white."

Case in point: www.washingtonpost.com...

I think the bigger question is, why do you think she's talking about whites?

Because I'm not an idiot; I know the subtle mechanics of identity politics when used as a political ploy, and it's not hard to see through the BS that Abrams is spouting.

Well, those in power are overwhelmingly white, but it isn't like their skin color is the reason they hold power.

Nor is it a reason for minorities to be labelled as powerless when they identify as "black." Maybe they should stop aborting their own race and change their attitude, while tuning out the propaganda.

You only criticize and hate in other people what you do like about your own character.

I think she's awesome! She makes a great point about politics in this country. If she were a Republican I would be saying the same thing!
