I wonder what the people of her district are thinking when they see the stuff she says. I'm actually really curious where she gets these ideas, if it is a brain storming session while smoking massive amounts of weed while watching Scooby Doo followed by Inspector Gadget? I want to know if she has ANY experience with any of the technologies she is talking about installing or replacing. Has she ever even replaced a light bulb? Maybe swapped out one of those gross incandescent's for those awesome CFL's? /sarc

This plan seems more like a means of getting people to argue with each other, with the "know nothings" on one side and the people who have worked with this tech on the other side. Basically it seems like a dividing tactic for people to say "you just don't want to support Green energy".

Or on another hand, they could be coming back at Trump, playing his own game. Make a ridiculous ask and then "settle" for what you really wanted in the first place. It kind of feels like this IMO, but to make this work, you usually have to be coming from a position of power, and I don't know what the Dem's are holding that could be used against Trump/republicans.

I think those on the Left should be concerned.

I see a lot of them here on ATS, and in this thread, that "laugh it off" and call out those on the Right as "triggered".

Hey, you guys should be "triggered" too.

Here is why: You all have an idiot that is wasting your time and tax dollars, instead of being productive and actually helping with things.

While you all might have a good chuckle, because you love how AOC "triggers" people, in the mean time she's helping give the Left a very bad image to those who are moderate or moderate democrats. She is wasting the people's time and tax money by doing nothing more than introducing inane and impossible bills that are completely useless, when she could be doing good work for you and getting actual viable things done.

So go ahead and yuk it up. It's going to cost you all in the long run.

While the resolution itself would do very little because it is non-binding, it is the first time the policy proposal has been formally outlined in Congress.

The resolution says “a new national social, industrial and economic mobilization on a scale not seen since World War II and the New Deal” is an opportunity to tackle systemic injustices toward minority groups, create millions of high-wage jobs and “provide unprecedented levels of prosperity and economic security for all people of the United States.”

im sure you will all keep crying and circle jerking though

this is no laughing matter. Should be very concerning for ALL sides that this is an actual policy proposal...

For those here who think this is just the crazy ramblings of some naive rookie Congress Rep...and so it is all just a big yawn and a little chuckle...

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Massachusetts senator Ed Markey have introduced their joint resolution for the Green New Deal—and it has some very well-known names on its list of nine Senate cosponsors, including all of the major 2020 Democratic candidates who have announced their intent to run and a few who haven’t.

Their presence confirms that the issue of the United States’s role in averting climate disaster will be the defining platform position in two years when America votes on a new president, especially where Democrats are concerned.

Co-sponsors of this idiotic resolution include Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand.

Dems Officially Off the Deep End

Yes folks, all of the leading Dem 2020 candidates are on board with eliminating airplanes, nuclear power plants, getting rid of cows and rebuilding every single structure in America within 10 years.

Oh...and to providing livable wages and housing for everybody in America, including people "unwilling" to work.

Oddly, only Nancy Pelosi seems to be trying to put the brakes on this thing, calling it "the New Green Dream or something"

Ocean trains and tobacco are not the same.

I think many of you are upright cause you don't like her.

I actually did like her. She was funny. Didn't you read my first post in this thread?

Ocean trains are impossible. But national trains are, and I can see a whole bunch of money being spent to build trains that don't make any difference, across land that was taken by the government to build them. That's orders of magnitude more than a simple wall in both respects, for something that won't help the country as opposed to something that will. That's bad.

I can see an attempt made to force upgrades to all homes and office buildings. As in, one cannot sell a home on that has not been upgraded... that will destroy many people who make their living repairing and fixing homes. That's worse.

I can easily see another Solyndra fiasco, but this time with new taxes assessed with the express intent of driving out fossil fuel and nuclear production. Since the infrastructure is not (and will not be) in place, it will do nothing more than raise energy prices through the roof. That will seriously hurt people who have to pay electric bills, especially the poor, the underemployed, and the elderly on a fixed income. It will also increase the cost of everything, since everything has to be transported, and that will create massive inflation overnight and stop the economy dead in its tracks. That's a disaster.

Stay fixed on one ridiculous aspect and ignore the same old same old attempts to force senior citizens to sit in the dark cold until they die of exposure, just so some young kid who is still thinking like a high-schooler can get a bunch of "atta-girls" from the despicable inhabitants of the Washington DC Swamp. I'll keep calling it out. Neither approach may do anything of significance, but at least when it comes to pass I can say "I tried."

somewhat. Infant mortality was high and simple things like the flu were a major cause of death. We're only here because enough of them were tough enough to survive until they could reproduce.

Ah, yea, but your Democrat friends have a plan to eliminate infant mortality and death from the flu. Its post natal abortion/infanticide.

This is pretty much where I'm at with this.

It's not legally binding as it's just a resolution and it's all impossible anyway, so why worry?

Why in the name of all that is holy and profane are these people wasting time with imbecilic resolutions suggesting impossible plans?

Aren't there actual problems that need to be addressed which could realistically help the nation overall?

Instead these deceitful blowhards present this plan that is full of vague language and unattainable goals.

Is there anything we can do to maybe speed up Bennu and aim it at Washington D.C.?

Build trains across oceans and end all air travel!

We are told there is no money to build a fence of less then 2000 miles but we should build a railroad across the ocean(s).

No funds to repair infrastructure but rebuild every building in the country.

What world did I wake up in this year.

I am aware of that dude, but thanks.

What is surprising to me is that so many 2020 Dem hopefuls signed onto this thing. Trump is going to make them (whoever the eventual nominee is) wear this like a donkey collar during the election campaign.

They could have just smiled and said, "Yeah, we need to do something about climate change". Instead they got themselves roped into signing their name to a resolution that would get an F in high school economics class.

I actually thought Harris and Booker were craftier than this...

I just had an epiphany!

The DNC wants to get rid of cow emissions... now, cows produce gas as long as they're alive, right? So to reduce cow emissions, we have to reduce the umber of cows. How do we ecologically reduce any other species? That's simple: we introduce natural predators! But sometimes that new natural predator causes problems of its own. In the case of cows, they already have natural predators in the local ecology, though: US! People eat cows! So all we need to do is encourage the natural predators already here.

I propose that, in order to speed up the reduction in the cow population, we create a program that encourages humans to eat more cows. To do that, and to comply with the socialistic principles put forth, we simply make all hamburgers free. If hamburgers are free, people will eat more of them and that will result in less cows and less cow flatulence polluting the environment.

It's so simple! Maybe Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is on to something after all:

FREE HAMBURGERS!
SAVE THE PLANET... EAT A HAMBURGER!

What is frightening and dangerous is not just her proposals, but the inevitable "compromises" that will follow her proposals.

She won't get everything she wants, but if she even gets a fraction, then that will negatively impact us.

Marxist Barbie and anyone who thinks like her is anti-American, anti-Constitutional.

She's an authoritarian bitch. Instead of having both feet on our throats, any compromise will just have one boot on our throats.

My ideas on becoming more green...
1.I would love to have wringer washers brought back.
2.I would also like to have clotheslines brought back as well.
3.Maybe people could go back to using kitchen towels instead of paper ones.
4.Use real napkins instead of paper ones.
5.People used to use hankies instead of tissues.
6.Mothers' used cloth diapers instead of disposable ones.
7.Mothers' using glass bottles instead of plastic ones.
Just going down memory lane, the good old days.

They want worth while projects? Here an area to work on - youth crime:

Five teens — including one as young as 12 — were arrested in the shooting death and robbery of 24-year-old singer Kyle Yorlets in Tennessee.

Metropolitan Nashville Police identified three of the teens in a Friday news release as Roniyah McKnight, 14, Diamond Lewis, 15, and Decorrius Wright, 16.

Investigators believe Yorlets was shot after refusing to hand over his car keys to the teens, who had already taken his wallet.

Yeah, I know, should he given then the keys.

And we usually only hear of the noteworthy cases.
