Like it or not, my state elected who we elected, and they represent me. I let them know my thoughts from time to time.

One person one vote eh.

Remind me again how that worked out during the democratic primaries?

I am sure Sanders would have something to say.

Bernie was cheated fair and square.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you! I was struggling to explain this to my 15 year old son just a few hours ago. This is what he is currently learning about in class. You did so much better me. You're a natural! If you have nothing else to do, please come live at my house until my spawn all graduate. The youngest is 8, so only about 10 more years. You can live in the mother in law cottage out back.

If you're saying regardless of their political slant, they represent you, then fair enough.

Can we apply this equally across the political spectrum? Nationally?

It seems, this day in age, that is not the case. IMO of course.

Answer this for me... Why the hell would anyone in the Midwest vote?

Also... Why the hell would we produce any food for you without representation?

Thus... The electoral college. Simple as that.

It's not.

No democratic representative represents their constituency.

The only thing they represent is their party first, party power, party money.

Getting rid of the electoral college, people no longer have the right to speech, they no longer have the right to defend themselves. They no longer have the right to keep the majority of their income.

It's amazing how they keep getting away with their fascist dictatorship.

I understand and believe that to also be true.

Having the discussion may open eyes...it also may not.

Having them not be voted or voted for again is the small bit of leverage we the people have.

Yup, the EC protects the strongest states as well.

If new york and california elected a president that would focus solely on their needs, while shunning the other 46 cont states.

What exactly do people think will happen, massive amounts of interference from other states. It really wouldn't be any better than what we have. At best it would go unnoticed, at worst it would cause massive upheaval on a state-fed level.

They are elected the majority of voters in their states and districts. But that does not mean that they act in only the majority's interest. That's why I let them know what I think, from time to time.

But the president, as administrator not legislator, doesn't represent the people. That's why he is elected by the states, not the people.

Every moron that does not understand the reason for the electoral college should get a throat punch and a copy of the Constitution.

Or just a throat punch.

Remember when the right lost to Obama, and they called for the abolition of the EC or had the FBI illegally spy on him, and created a special counsel because they lost?

Me either.
