Now that Trump has announced he is opening the government for three weeks so that the 800,000 government workers can get paid.

OK good, especially for those living from pay check to paycheck.. Now I wonder after the three week pumpkin date and still no deal with border security/wall what will come next ?

It would be a perfect opportunity for all kinds of emergency powers IMO. Will it happen ? I dunno but with a three week window I expect posturing from both sides and when nothing happens it may get very interesting.. I hope Trump lowers the hammer for the wall.. In my long life time I have never seen such obstructionist from the new and improved social democrats.

I do not remember anyone fleeing a capitalist country for a socialist country.?. Maybe someplace once upon a time it might have happened but I darn sure do not remember it..... IMO there are those in our government who want to be the top critters in any new socialist state.

There is an episode of Southpark that rhymes with what I think is happening. It's called Make Love, Not Warcraft.

Other than that, we're running into a dangerous precedent that has been talked about for years here on ATS.

There are three weeks for the Democrats to make good on their promise to negotiate. They won't negotiate over a wall and stronger border security, just more of the same things they've done in the past that haven't worked, so in three weeks we'll see if Trump goes back to what we just had and uses his National Emergency or not.

The continuing resolution approved today funds the government through 2/28/2019. I think the Feb 15th deadline is when Trump decides whether or not to issue the exec order to build border barriers.

No time to lose. Time for common sense Democrats in Congress to kick Nancy to the curb. She's not really all that popular in her own party anyway. Those that voted against her speakership should stand up loud and strong and push for her removal. Grow some!!

Trump had 2 years with a 'Republican majority in the House and Senate and didn't get his wall then. It's taken over too years for Trump to shape his political character, it took Pelosi just over 35 days to defeat that persona. I don't expect much from Trump for here on out.

What part of -- neither side really wants a wall don't you get? Both establishment Dems and establishment 'Pubs get something from not having it and having lots of illegals in the country. Plus, the lack of real border security creates a perma-issue both sides can reliably count on each election cycle.

If it was solved, then what would they do?

My gawd! Trump spent those two years fighting against the never-Trumpers within his own party! It is unbelievable what this man has been able to accomplish anyway to help the American people.

Paul Ryan was next to no help in all honesty. Then you had McCain, Flake, Corker, and others constantly fighting against him.

Reminder again---If the Republicans had kept the House, we would never have had a government shutdown, the border Wall would be in the process of getting built, infrastructure projects would be in full swing, the economy would probably be booming even more than it is now, and the American People would be safer, stronger, healthier, and wealthier.

Oddly enough, those are likely the same ones who deserve the end of a rope.

Too bad most Americans have had experimental spinal cord removal surgery. Too busy being sheep, lazy, low information consumers to see what has been happening in front of their faces for 150 years.

They're going to push people to the limit though.

Then people will get out from behind their keyboards, quit wasting time and energy calling and emailing their congressmen, stop ranting on Twitter and FB, and grab their "pitchforks".

You can only abuse them so long by ignoring their will.

After three weeks, no much. Certainly not the $5.7 billion he wanted. I mean he got exactly $0.00 toward his wall after shutting down government for 35 days. He caved. Not much hope for him after that.

There's talk of him using Emergency Powers to get the wall done right? I mean I'm unsure how much of a case he'll make on this being an immediate emergency considering he had 2 years in office with a GOP majority in both houses.

It's an emergency now all of a sudden? No.

3 weeks....then your suggestion may be what it takes. Our president needs us to stand with him. Everything he is doing and has done so far is for us. www.promiseskept.com...

Nothing.

Nothing will happen.

This is the second quarter of the game so either side declaring a win is foolish, but if I had to speculate?

Nothing will happen. The wall won't get built, Pelosi has to stand firm or lose her base and impact the 2020 election.

Trump will ultimately lose this because the media, half the people, and most of the politicians are against him.

Help the American people, his only legislative victory was more tax breaks for the rich, how establishment Republican of him to do that!

Paul Ryan was next to no help in all honesty. Then you had McCain, Flake, Corker, and others constantly fighting against him.

They were not the majority, it was Trumps failure to lead.

Yesterday the Republican majority Senate voted on a Republican bill with the wall, it failed, and they voted on a Democrat bill without a wall and it did better than the Republican bill did.

According to Trumps White House they have accomplished more than any other administration in history, I guess you like everyone else don't see it??

It gets tiresome explaining to people that 60 gd votes are required to pass it in the Senate. Repubs have 53 senators. Getting more than one or two Dems is next to impossible.

Well there have been a few who had a pair between their legs, but then we all called them terrorists and criminal sick scum like msm and social media commanded us too.

It's a catch 22 you see. People are called spineless for not committing acts of violence against the government in resistance, and then called terrorists and scum for doing actS of violence in resistance to the government, by many of the same people.

Sure would be nice if somebody could step up to bat and show us the proper way to resist violently without being called terrorists scum???
