Kings daughter is not king himself.

Post some interviews with king himself that back up your claim that he held current republican views.

King himself never publicly aligned with a political party, nor did he register with one. Therefore, we can only go by the bigger picture. You won't find any interviews that give a clear cut answer either. However:

-His father was a vocal Republican.
-His surviving family is active in the Republican party
-King grew up in an environment where the biggest opponents to civil rights legislation were Democrats.
- A quote from Frances Rice, chairman of the National Black Republican Association:

[he] "absolutely was a Republican," and "We were all Republicans in those days. The Democrats were training fire hoses on us, siccing dogs on us."

- A quote from King himself:

A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God.

Does that sound like anything you'd hear a Democrat say today?

One of the biggest misconceptions in contemporary politics is that the Democratic party is an advocate of Black America. To put it plainly, they want black votes, but not black progress. They want state dependants, not self determination. If MLK was alive today, there's little doubt in my mind that he would recognize this.

Very Childish behavior of the American Liberals, but i am not surprised this would only hurt the Liberals not Trump nor the Right Wing.

This is FAKE, Trump-- the racist--bastard doesn’t care about human beings and certainly not black PEOPLE.

Just look at him torturing the federal workers to placate his ignorant racist base

A sitting POTUS commemorating a national hero on a memorial day.

What an evil bastard he is.

From the OP:

made a brief, unannounced visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

I guess there were plenty of invites sent across the aisle, right? Not in these days of partisanship. Sorry. Both sides will take every liberty to make the opposite side seem crass and cold- just like in your posts.

President Trump and Vice President Pence on Monday made a brief, unannounced visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C. to mark the national holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. Trump and Pence laid a wreath at the memorial. Great day. Beautiful day. Thank you for being here. Appreciate it," Trump said, according to a reporter traveling with him. The visit to the memorial lasted approximately two minutes, the reporter added.

2 minutes...

Good enough. How much time do you think he needed to spend on MLK?

Since we're playing the partisan card so heavily here, this is Dr. Alveda King ( MLK's niece ) setting the record straight about her family's political affiliation:

youtu.be...

Spoiler alert: They were Republicans and still are today.

Spoiler alert, there’s a thing called the southern strategy, which you guys conveniently leave out every time you try to white wash this time in history in your image.

In American politics, the Southern Strategy refers to a Republican Party electoral strategy to increase political support among white voters in the South by appealing to racism against African Americans.[1][2][3] As the civil rights movement and dismantling of Jim Crow laws in the 1950s and 1960s visibly deepened existing racial tensions in much of the Southern United States, Republican politicians such as presidential candidate Richard Nixon and Senator Barry Goldwater developed strategies that successfully contributed to the political realignment of many white, conservative voters in the South who had traditionally supported the Democratic Party rather than the Republican Party.[4] It also helped to push the Republican Party much more to the right.[4]

But I guess that’s too much like reality, huh?

Do you really believe that stuff?

They have to or the cognitivie dissonance would tear their brains apart and they'd be left laying on the ground, blood trickling from their ears, while realizing they're sided with the very thing they claim to despise.

Yeah...Democrats honored him by tweeting. Most of the tweets were some weak yadayadayada about honoring his name and what he stood for and yada yada yada, then highlighting one of Dr. King's quotes, and after another yada yada...Trump is _______. (Fill in your own insult.)

So did any group of Democrats go and lay a wreath at the MLK Memorial at any time today? Party leaders? Black Caucus?

Anyone other than Trump and Pence?

I’ll wait...
