I'm glad our President remembered that today is Martin Luther King. Jr.'s birthday, and what he stood for. Most of the Mainstream Media and the Democrats are (as usual) busy focusing on degrading our President, America, and Americans on this holiday.

President Trump and Vice President Pence on Monday made a brief, unannounced visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C. to mark the national holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader.

Trump and Pence laid a wreath at the memorial.

Trump in a tweet earlier Monday morning said the nation celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. "for standing up for the self-evident truth Americans hold so dear, that no matter what the color of our skin or the place of our birth, we are all created equal by God."

The president's tweet linked to a presidential proclamation issued on Friday that noted job gains and criminal justice reforms during his administration.

President Trump has done more for African Americans in 2 years, than a real African American President (Barack Obama) did in 8 years. It's a shame that so many who purportedly "care about minorities" do not acknowledge the obvious.

I can't help but wonder what Dr King would think of how today's politics have been combined with race and unhinged hatred. How skin color and politics define the racist hate of the day.

I can only imagine how disgusted and disappointed he'd be.

I saw a Meme showing which party has done the most for African Americans since Abraham Lincoln. It was astonishing to graphically see that Democrats have historically been against Blacks and other minorities.

Martin Luther King, Jr. probably would have become a U.S. Senator, maybe a Republican Senator.

I’m sure MLK would have agreed that there were good people on both sides of Charlottesville.

Right guys?

Wouldn't it be nice if on MLK Jr's birthday, politics and racism could be put aside to celebrate how far our country has come since the 60s?

Obviously the MSM has been successful in continuing to find ways to divide and conquer the races in our country. We celebrate that 365 days out of the year. Couldn't we take this one day and celebrate a brave man who lost his life in search of equality for all?

Trump does not appear racist but every opportunity he turns into political jabs. Perhaps that's why the Dems didn't show up. That, and they certainly don't want to show any support for him or his policies especially with the considerable tension concerning the budget and the wall; whether those are the real issues or not.

Just wanted to drop a little reminder of what MLK actually believed before you guys stain his memory by comparing him to the treason weasel currently occupying the gold toilet in the White House.

In Where Do We Go From Here, which calls for “the full emancipation and equality of Negroes and the poor,” King advocates policies in line with a democratic socialist program: a guaranteed annual income, constitutional amendments to secure social and economic equality, and greatly expanded public housing. He endorses the Freedom Budget put forward by socialist activist A. Philip Randolph, which included such policies as a jobs guarantee, a living wage and universal healthcare. He also outlines how economic inequality can circumscribe civil rights. While the wealthy enjoy easy access to lawyers and the courts, “the poor, however, are helpless,” he writes.

I wonder which part of MLK’s socialist agenda Trump is paying respects to?

Do you really think that had he invited the Dems, they would have showed up and showed any kind of unity with the POTUS ? Hope people take notice that Martin Luther King Jr. was honored by Trump and Pence in a very personal way, that showed respect to his legacy and was not used as a phony opportunity to show " support " for Black Americans, Trump already walks the walk with results that truly honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s " Dream " for America.

Since we're playing the partisan card so heavily here, this is Dr. Alveda King ( MLK's niece ) setting the record straight about her family's political affiliation:

youtu.be...

Spoiler alert: They were Republicans and still are today.

Sounds like another made up crisis. Trump and Pence make an unannounced appearance and the Dems are being called out for not showing up to an event they didn't know about because they wouldn't have gone anyway! Darn to Dems!
LOL
