I think these guys can call it whatever they want!!

As a pilot, I never landed on anything that ever moved.....especially at night!!

Did you see the deck moving (i.e. the horizon dropping upn and down????)

This is what sorts the "men" out from the "boys".

You would really think after all this time and technology, that they would still be using the same method they used in the 1920s.....

Why not thrust rocket engines strategically placed on the fuselage to balance the plane for a vertical assist landing....particularly with all the expense they go to in trying to save them.

History.

ive always been amazed at the skills these pilots possess. having to hit that imaginary spot where the deck will be and then time it correctly with your descent. seeing that cliff face rise up against u and drop out completely must be terrifying. balls of steel or plain crazy... maybe equal parts.

Taking off is "relatively" easy, as long as you don't have an engine failure.

Landing is a whole other story!!!

Frankly, this Commander made a big mistake, and he acknowledged as much. But even so, this video demonstrates some serious vulnerabilities.

The good news is, no body can do it better!!

Balls of steel? more like balls of Titanium.

After seeing Star Wars as a kid my dream was to become a fighter pilot, then the powers above cursed me with bad motion sickness, now i'm sitting here writing this instead of being in a F111-C.

And, what would you expect they would use differently???

They have F-18's, twin engine jets, with 34,000 lbs of thrust in full afterburner (which is what you saw).

They can accelerate from 300mph to 1,400mph in less than two seconds.

I'd say they're pretty "bad", woldn't you???

Kind regards,
