Not exactly sure how this bill would be able to originate in the Senate since it deals with government funding and I was under the impression that all spending bills had to originate in the house, but will be watching to see what comes of this.

The perfect way to push House Dems against the wall would be for the Senate to take a recently passed House bill, add DACA amnesty, border barrier funding, approve it with at least 60 votes, and send it back to the House for final approval.

The House can either approve it, vote it down, or strip out the border barrier funding, then approve it, and send it back to the Senate again.

This could conceivably take WEEKS.

Does Trump have the votes in the senate? Blaming dems for this shutdown is your prerogative but if the house agrees, does he have the votes to make this pass?

He didn't before, so what makes you guys think he has it now?

Because Democrats fought hard in 2018 for DACA/DREAMER amnesty. Today, President Trump is enabling that amnesty in his government-funding compromise.

Also, 800,000 Federal Employees are just 6 days away from missing their second paycheck. (They're paid twice a month) Democrats are pro-BIG Government. More than 90% of Federal Employees are Democrats.

LOTS OF REASONS for the Democrat-controlled U.S. House to approve a modified version of the government funding bill they passed earlier this month.

I asked the same thing about the ACA, and never got an answer (except they had to vote for it to see what all was in it).

If I had to guess, it will use a similar procedure: the actual bill will be the DACA extension, since that does not involve funding. Then there will be riders attached to open up the government and fund the border security. Good for the goose and all that...

Looks like an interesting showdown: If the bill were introduced in the House, Pelosi could simply refuse to bring it to the floor and let it die a quiet death. In the Senate, it can be brought to the floor. If the Senate passes it, Nefarious Nancy can either
  • refuse to bring a DACA bill to the floor, effectively declaring that she is against the DACA extension (not many people actually listen to what is in a bill; they go by the title).
  • Strip the wall provisions out of the bill, ensuring that the Senate will not pass it and possibly starting a joint resolution on it (that would be interesting in itself).
  • Vote the bill down, again declaring to the public that the Democrats oppose any extension of DACA.
  • Let it pass (which it may well do; there are some Democrats who are arguing that it is better to just give Trump his wall). If that happens, it'll indicate that she has lost control of the House only a month into her Speakership.
In other words, not much good for Pelosi can come of this move. Bishop in the backfield...

It's bizarre. Nobody liked Nancy Pelosi. Several members of her own party voted against her speakership. Her name was synonymous with poison. Hardly any candidates wanted anything to do with her, much less ask for her verbal support.

Yet...in the end, they flip flopped and made her Speaker. Those that had stood their ground and opposed her got taken down several notches by being refused, by her, of important committee appointments. She's vicious.

Something is not right.

Powerful cartel money and muscle? There is something rotten in Calimexia.

It's quite simple really, she has the support of rich white California liberals. They donate a lot of money and they mobilize support for her in Cali, which has a ton of electoral votes. She's a gold mine to the Democrat party. She provides the two things they care about most, votes and money. They couldn't care less whether she actually represents what their younger, more progressive base wants. They're just useful idiots to party leadership.

Yeah. I looked it up to see what area of California 12th district covers. It's basically just the City of San Francisco, and its metropolitan area.

Quite a lot of wealthy people there, and it's a sanctuary city. So her constituents would be totally opposed to anything "anti illegal immigration".

Remember: we didn't elect her. San Francisco did. Their votes are the only ones that determine whether she can stay in office or not. She has no reason to care what anybody else in the country wants.

They fought for permanent solutions not temporary actions that could get us back here when the GOP hold the dreamers hostage again.

Do you guys realize what kind of ammunition the Dems will have if Trump actually starts cracking down on dreamers? That would be a foolish thing to do and it would needlessly endanger the whole strong border effort.

And you think they should agree to this deal, thereby giving him three years of not having to face that problem? There is no benefit in this for the Dems, or for the dreamers. Do you seriously think they're going support Trump because of this? With a Democratic president they'd be guaranteed amnesty anyway.

makes me wonder about voter fraud aswell cause i actually know very few liberals who support pelosi. the homeless population has skyrocketed in the bay area in the past 10 years and it wouldnt be the first time people would be found to be paying the unfortunate to commit voter fraud for a pack of cigs or a bottle of booze. these rich residents id imagine are getting sick of the eyesores and filth that this level of homelessness has brought to their area.

For real, is she mentally fit to make these important decisions ?

How the democratic party has any support is beyond me.

But I figured it out,,,,a large portion of people in the country, they have family in that carvan.

Decisions in America are about to be real divisive.

You have citizens who want the best for the country then you have a new large portion of the country who the best for the world, not the country.

Why, because they have more family and greater ties to places outside of the u.s.

Wont be a good formula for the country

You have TDS. I am quite sure the President has some numbers as to the expense these illegals cost our country in support and health care. Turnabout is fair play. Quit listening to the Communist News Network, MSNBC, ABC, Huff Post, The Daily Luciferian Beast and Yahoo News. Their voices are artificially loud but the numbers of Americans supporting them is low. Choose wisely grasshopper because I would not want to be on the wrong side of history.

Ah, thank you for that.

I am not too fond of congress playing fast and loose with the rules of lawmaking, no matter which side is doing such. The House puts forth spending bills and the senate deals with all the rest, or so it should be.

I saw you mention in another thread somewhere (haven't been able to find it again) about the possibility of Pelosi having her family along on this latest trip that got cancelled and have been looking for footage or pics of the entire entourage getting off the bus, but so far all of the vids I have seen show a group of people I don't recognize followed by Adam Schiff getting off the bus and then the video cutting away. If I manage to find pics or video showing the entire croup that was on the bus I will reply in this thread.

In the meantime, I have found proof that in the past Pelosi has had her family flown between San Francisco and Andrews Airforce Base:

Numerous trips were made by Speaker Pelosi between San Francisco and Andrews Air Force Base. Several of these trips included members of Speaker Pelosi’s family, including her husband, daughter, granddaughters and son-in law. For example, one “Staff Summary Sheet” detailing a January 4, 2010, flight from San Francisco to Andrews Air Force Base notes that Pelosi’s daughter Christina “owes for $99.00 (flight) and $7.82 (meal).” The documents suggest that the Speaker’s office was billed for the fees but do not indicate whether the bills were paid.
...
“These documents further detail former Speaker Pelosi’s shameless abuse of military air craft during her tenure as House Speaker. Providing sweetheart travel deals for her adult children are an abuse of her high public office,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “But this scandal is much larger than Speaker Pelosi, as the massive Detroit Auto Show junket shows. Members of the House are able to obtain permission from the Office of the Speaker for the use of military luxury and military-supported travel for congressional delegation trips. These trips, known as CODELs, have exploded in number and cost. Speaker Boehner needs to reform this abuse of our military’s assets. For all the recent talk about corporate luxury jets here in Washington, the American people might be surprised to learn the Air Force has an entire wing of luxury jets (in addition to President Obama’s Air Force One planes) for the use of congressmen and top administration officials.”

Isn't that how Obamacare went down? I'm not sure they have to have 60 votes if they play reconciliation games too.

That's one of the things that pisses me off the most, is that they will say no, just to say no, regardless if it's an acceptable deal or not. The bonus for us taxpayers is that we get the privilege to pay for them to play their games. It infuriates me beyond no end that I have to pay the salaries for people like Pelosi, Waters, Schumer, etc and all they do is piss and moan and point fingers at each other.

Top government has become a self serving entity. Though they try and present themselves in a different light, it's become very apparent to anyone with half a brain that they no longer work for "We the People". The Democratic Party has shown this in spades and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they don't give a damn about us.

What they really need is a stern reminder of who they work for and who pays their salaries.

If I had been in Trump's position, I would have found a way to make sure all of congress was not paid until the shutdown was resolved. Including the kickbacks and other cash infusions.

I hope Nancy has her big boy pants, cause she now owns the government shutdown. Trump offered the dems what they wanted DACA and they turned it down.

Of course she does. It’s all a big power trip for her and the agenda of world socialism. Yet she retains her millions and her elite status while forcing the rest of us to accept crumbs in the name of social equality.

You're welcome.

I think it's pretty sneaky as well. All financial bills are supposed to originate in the House, but we are now in a position of the rules not mattering. I can't blame Trump or the GOP; they are simply following the precedent set by the Democrats. There are those who would like nothing better than to force the GOP to play strictly by the rules while the DNC breaks those rules with impunity, but that's the definition of unfair and IMO worse than both sides bending the rules equally.

I couldn't find anything specific on Pelosi's family traveling with her this time either. Somewhere back in the ATS database, I remember engaging in a thread where Pelosi was under scrutiny and her family was outed as the true source of her power. Apparently she comes from a very powerful clan, the D'Alesandro family of Maryland.

In some ways, Pelosi can be seen as Clinton Lite, a slightly less omnipotent source of evil for the country with more caution about her true social position being outed. She can fly under the public radar that way. If she has become a serious impediment for the country, though, she needs to be outed for who and what she is.

Maybe that will help a little in your search...
