How can anyone say, with a straight face, that the shutdown is not the Democrats fault?

The amount of mental gymnastics it takes to think that this is somehow on the Democrats is amazing.

"I am proud to shut down the government"

I am proud to shut down the government for national security.

Those border guards tasked with protecting the borders from illegal immigrants are not being payed, if national security was really being threatened at the southern border, this wouldn't be happening....

I would say the reason they can say with a straight face that Trump is the cause is because he said it multiple times that HE would shut down the government. He even made the statement that he would be proud to do it.

Now the reason Trump and his supporters are screaming it is the dems is because of how unpopular the shut down actually is and that it is having negative consequences. The American people are not stupid and know who is to blame for the shutdown and no matter how much you cry it is the dems, America blames Trump.

As of now, the only people with Trump are his die hard supporters and they live in such a bubble that the honestly believe that the majority of America is with him but that is so far from the truth that it is embarrassing to watch these people continue to make this claim.

It is kind of sad because now the opposing party does not have to run anyone of substance, just show up and win because Trump is so unpopular globally but more important, America is against him. I know you guys hate polls but every single poll has him in the 40's and losing more each day as the shutdown keeps going.

You guys are also preparing yourselves for a loss because you are making claims that the midterms were won by cheating and preparing this excuse ahead of time. You people are unwilling to face the truth and thanks to Trump, I doubt the republicans will win another presidency for decades unless the dems president is so horrible that it makes Trump look good. Hell this guy has made Bush Jr. look good and that is one hell of an achievement on Trumps part.

I don't know how anyone can keep a straight face and make this thread. I'd really like to take a look at the kool-aid they're feeding you over there in backwards right wing fantasy land.

1) He had to two years to make this happen. The mother#er was even offered 25+ billion to do it.
2) Now that the heat is getting closer and closer to his lying ass and his criminal administration, all of the sudden its a crisis.? PFFTTTT Please...what's even funnier is you so called cynics here on a conspiracy forum think this is totally legit? Cracks me the # up. Ya know what this is called? A #ing smoke screen. Propaganda 101 #. And you genius' can't even see it. Trump is literally the real deal swamp in action right here, sitting on your face and wiggling and you people can't even admit it. LMAO
3) Spin it however you want, he proudly said he would shut it down and proudly owned the responsibility for it.
4) Mitch McConnell is stopping a bill from passing because all of the sudden, he's afraid to stand up to a President.
5) A wall matters about 0% to Trump. What DOES matter to him is that this stays prime time, festering so he can look like some kind of real deal maker like he suckered you all into believing he was. Because that's what you are...SUCKERS

Blaming the Democrats for the shutdown is like blaming a woman for getting raped because she looked sexy.

Isn't McConnell holding it up in the Senate. The house passed a bill with security money. The senate dems haven't had the chance to stop it and be the blame.

It only funds security until Feb 8 with no money for barrier, fence, wall, whatever you want to call it. All other applicable agencies had funding to September, i.e. remove the bargaining chips. McConnell knew it would be vetoed so he tabled it.

A reply to the title of the post,

the shutdown happened because GOP House Majority Leader Paul Ryan failed to pass the GOP Senate continuing resolution.

Unless people forget the reason we have a shutdown is because the GOP in 2018, when they had majority control of the house and senate and before the DEMs had the house, could not pass a budget.

Because the President is usurping the Constitutionally created three independent co-equal cross checking power sharing platforms. CONGRESS controls the budget and purse strings, and creates legislation, not the President. Attempting to force Congress into passing legislation that the President insists on is coercion. The Republicans had control over the Congress and Presidency for 2 years, but didn't pass Wall legislation. Why?? Because Republicans know it doesn't really work out by the numbers or ability to stop people but they are afraid of the Trump base voters so they pretend to support him while finding a way out of doing so, then blame the Democrats. Ever been to the border? It isn't 2000 miles of flat land, a good part of it is private land, tunnels are frequently created under the border and walled parts already, and anyone can use a ladder, just as is done against walls everywhere. Think castles before cannons. We have been overcoming walls for centuries. Without landmines, lights, dogs, guards, a wall is just one of the obstacles that have been only semi-useful for a very long time.

Who cares what you think? You have no stake in it.

You don't play by the rules. You play by your own rules and some times not even your own rules. Depends on what logical fallacy and uninformed opinion you're trying to share as fact, I suppose. Why do you care? Is the answer located in your word salad identity badge in your signature?

Even Trump made several public announcements 3 - 4 weeks ago saying he 100% owned responsibility for the closure of the government, unpaid workers etc...

Why are so many posters, politicians trying to rewrite the last month - it's all on film, press announcements, trumps twitter, other reps etc...

No fan of the democrats but this delusional cult following and attempt to completely rewrite all Trump, the white house, video footage, press statements, interviews, announcements etc.. is some delusional so poorly planned, orchestrated and patently false the only political figure in history who comes close is Comical Ali during the Iraq War 2003.

Even more worrying the Dems aren't to run circles around such a chaotic, shamollic ad unhinged Part in Power - no idea how they could be so dumb but not died from forgetting to breathe/eat/drink.

What we all want to know is how long this iteration of you name will last after spreading lies. A day... a week... a month. Who knows. There is a very dedicated campaign of liars working against Trump. How many pro-Trump opinions have been axed? How many fraudulent posters are now in the graveyard.

You should hope the AG is too busy with corrupt politicians to go after internet intereference.

The American people also understand that this government shut down is purely Trumps fault because he is claiming this is over National security and the magical caravan that appears when it is needed.

They also understand that he had two years with a republican majority to pass a budget which would have included the wall and to grandstand now is bad optics for him and his party.

Despite what hardcore Trump supporters say and the bubble they live in, the majority are not with with Trump nor are they for the wall. They see this as Trump having a tantrum because he is not getting his way and now even more so when his reply to Pelosi letter regarding the state of the union address is to not to supply her with government security and a government plane to visit the troops. It makes him look like a child.

Trump says this and that on video and yet these hardcore supporters choose to ignore this because they are hoping America is stupid and then try to change the narrative that it is the dems fault for government shut down.

Good Luck with that. TWO YEARS - is all they remember, two years to get his way and failed at getting his own party to support him or it was not an issue then to him and the republicans.

TWO YEARS
