I don't recall what the margin for Brexit was.

52% Leave EU.
48% Remain in EU.

..... but why would Parliament be so resoundingly against it?

They want to maintain the status quo and their place in the feeding trough!

The vast majority of MP's are self-aggrandising, self-advancing egotists who resent the people voting for something they don't want and they want to re-assert their authority over the people - just my opinion.

Seems to me, voting against majority wishes of your constituency isn't good for retaining your seat...

My local MP is generally viewed as a hard working MP who actually tries to get things done for her constituents.
Where I live 56% voted for Brexit and 44% voted to remain.
Our local MP has continued voicing strong anti-Brexit sentiments and has continually tried to hamper and delay Brexit.
She has failed to represent her constituents on the single biggest issue of her tenure in Westminster.....I can't see her getting re-elected.

I have never seen so many people so angry and disenchanted both with our politicians and the party political system....its quite hard to describe the disgust and contempt so many have with the EU.

but, then again, that's a constant refrain here in the States, too.

Time for real change.

I'm sure Tusk supports Catalonia's vote of self determination too, right?

He is such a lackey for the Uber-State.

The leave vote would be much higher second time around.

Article 50 is legally binding.

Many remainers regret their vote.

The propaganda machine is in full motion. Using misleading statements to scare people and to elevate remainers into a fake moral and intellectual high ground. Which when questioned with facts or evidence falls down EVERY SINGLE TIME.

European Council President Donald Tusk suggested that U.K. lawmakers revoke the country's decision to leave the EU, saying it's the only positive solution left on the table.

Something tells me that "UK lawmakers revoking the country's decision to leave the EU" was the only solution on the table since the day after the referendum. What we have watched since was a show to try to scare the UK people into agreeing with that solution.

So if you guys do have another referendum... you should actually have two more. 2 out of 3 wins.

Calling bullsnip on that claim mate,

I don't know a single person that voted to leave that has changed there mind or regretted it, most have an even stronger want to leave.

The only thing these people and myself seem to be pissed with is the fact it's not being carried out, T.May trying for a deal that we don't want, the EU stating that actually you can revoke article 50 or extend the negotions, even though at the beginning we were told if article 50 is invoked we will not be able to stop or lengthen the process.

In regards to a second referendum, NO! We voted already, if we had a second one and it comes out to stay, do we do another for a tie breaker or is it best of 5, best of 7?

the only thing worth doing now is a referendum on the "no confidence " of the public in government and immediate electoral reform!

How? No one is forcing you to stay.
It's your incompetent politicians that are to blaim.
Tusk is only adding fuel to the fire.
You know, the same thing your country has been doing for hundreds of years all around the globe. The same your country has been doing when you guys were members of the EU.
Taste your own medicine for once.

'Many of the people that voted to remain regretted their decision just a few days later'

See I can deal in bullcrap too.

I'm sure there are people on both sides that regretted the decision they made, But to state that 'many' of the people that voted to leave regret it, is just bollocks

'
' I dont know why so many of them are pushing for a general election,

If I were any one of them I would be afraid for my job..... very afraid

I can see many of them loosing their seats at the next election!!

Remember people their jobs are in our hands.

Time for real change.

We arent going to have a next election that lot are done , every single last one should be looking for a new job, we dont want them anymore

abandon the whole political system and put in a new one
and a new constitution and break away from the EU
we all become fully sovereign nations within a union with each our own separate fiscal budgets and constitutions
but we remain in a overall union of nations for trade and security !

I only wish that this were true.

They certainly deserve to shoulder a large portion of the blame.
As do the unelected EU Commissars who are seeking to bully and punish the UK for having the temerity to want to govern themselves!

Tusk is only adding fuel to the fire.

All Tusk, Junkner and the rest of the amoral, corrupt, undemocratic EU have done from Day One of negotiations is seek to provoke, antagonise and bully.

You know, the same thing your country has been doing for hundreds of years all around the globe.

Wow, that old chestnut.....unlike Spain, France, to a lesser extent Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Netherlands etc did as well!

The same your country has been doing when you guys were members of the EU.

How so?

Taste your own medicine for once.

That's it, it's better out than in.....here's the envious, bitter anti-UK bigotry trying to surface.
Come on man, say what you really think....don't keep it bottled up inside you.

Sentiments I would normally echo.....except not just nations.
I have zero in common with the vast majority of Londoners etc and I don't want them twats dictating to me....regional autonomy as well.
Dare we say a Federation of States?

Abolish party politics.
Power of recall.
50% of legislative body re-elected every two years.
Elected second assembly.

I could go on and I could elaborate....but I can't be arsed today.

Why does those who oppose brexit want to stay with the EU just why? the EU will eventually force Britain to accpet the Euro dollar. British people will have no self Independence.
Is that what they want?

The more i am seeing the more EU is becoming an empire. Just to prop up some links for discussion.
The EU Is Looking Like Europe’s Next Failed Empire

There are many reasons. As I pointed out in another thread different parts of the different nations that make up the UK voted Leave or Remain for their own reasons. I'd bet that if you lived up here you may have voted Remain, if I lived down there, I may have voted Leave and the divide is greater than it should be because we're all too busy arguing to actually bother finding out the reasons people voted the way we do. Some parts of the UK are going to be hit harder by Brexit than others, this will not effect us all equally and the sooner we can all work that out the better. This is gonna be rough, no matter what happens and all because David Cameron wanted to quell a Tory Civil War, it's pathetic really that we're all dancing to his tune even though he turned tail and ran when he got egg on his smarmy face...

Big businesses have paid well to get proper information about the possibilities of Brexit , which is partly why they've been readying for a no deal since quite some time ago .
The government has also made it's preparations of course , from before the referendum too but they wouldn't tell Tusk that . Consider what a fortress is for - the walls and gate everday state : "no deal"

The only reason that there are calls for another referendum is that the last one didn't achieve the expected result.

Wrong.!

Actually the only reason that people don't want another referendum is they're scared too many people have changed their minds and the result is Remain but by a far higher majority than Leave did.

See I have an opinion too but it is also wrong. Do you know why? Because there are many reasons people want a second referendum and most of them actually have some common sense behind them.

The worst thing about this Brexit division is the nastiness it brings out in both sides. I hear too many people decry "all remainers" this and "all remainers" that and anyone who says that is usually making an idiotic statement. One thing I've learned here is that a lot of people voted in a way they feel was right given the info they had. Regional politics plays a large hand in this, read my previous post in this discussion and whether you want to admit it or not, there is definitely a racist undercurrent which also brought about Brexit, after all I bet all the far Right hate groups in the UK voted Leave...
