President Donald Trump issued an order on Sept. 17 for the immediate declassification of three series of documents related to the Russia investigation and the spying on his presidential campaign.

So...where is it? The stuff that Trump ordered to be declassified in September? Did it break the case?

OH GREAT DASHEN... with BIG BIG happenings on the near horizon, we're going to need Q thread #18 in a few days.

I have a feeling it will approach the 400 page ATS limit, faster than any of the 17 that preceded it.

Who knows where it is all stuck?

(From my link above)

The question now becomes how quickly the various agencies will comply with the declassification order. It is likely that there would have been prior coordination and agreements reached in advance of the order. The material question yet to be answered is to what extent an agreement was reached with the DOJ and FBI.

“When the president issues such an order, it triggers a declassification review process that is conducted by various agencies within the intelligence community, in conjunction with the White House Counsel, to seek to ensure the safety of America’s national security interest,” the DOJ said in a statement.

“The department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are already working with the Director of National Intelligence to comply with the president’s order,” the statement said.

September, October, November, December, January, February, March.

Huh. Seems like the president can't just declassify anything he wants to?

Weird.

The release will be a # storm.

It is quite possible that it will be utterly different to what anyone expects.

I am looking forward to it. I may well study it over a meal of Kangaroo steak served with (thankfully) sauteed Witchetty Grubs and a nice Cabernet Merlot.

I do not believe that M has been doing what you think he has been doing.

The answer is in the Fourth Dimension.

I thought you wanted it all released.
Is there some reason the president cannot order that?

You're too mature and knowledgeable for questions you're asking, Phage.

At least you were, yesterday.

Then please assuage my ignorance. Why cannot the president, with a stroke of his pen, declassify it?

He did, after all, say "Give Jared the security clearance."

Bob Mueller has a long-time colleague/friend who says he might not issue a thick/detailed report. He doesn't like to do a lot of writing. As FBI Director, Mueller just gave his AG at the time, a brief summary of each major investigation as it concluded.

He can, but his Department of Justice does NOT have to comply. Just like they didn't comply in Sept 2018 when Trump demanded that Spygate documents be IMMEDIATELY declassified.

Really? The DOJ is exempt from the security prerogatives of the presidency? Interesting.

Just like they didn't comply in Sept 2018 when Trump demanded that Spygate documents be IMMEDIATELY declassified.
I wonder if maybe it was pointed out to him that maybe he didn't want to do that.

There seems to be be a disagreement here about the wishes and prerogatives of the presidency.

A personal experience over the last few days has given me an amended view of "These people won't be able to walk down the street" (sic).

We have been told a cure for cancer exists and is being held back from the public.

On Thursday my daughter's mother-in-law was told she has 2 weeks to live because of cancer.
On Friday my daughter had to tell her 2 under-10 children that their grandmother will die very soon.

It strikes me that those working in pharmaceuticals, who have held back life-saving cures for 50 years, will be at even higher risk than politicians.

I hate to think what rage my grandson would unleash in 5 years time if he saw a pharma exec on the street and knew that guy had deprived him of his grandmother, and deprived her of another 20 years life!

Not really

Cool quote.

So why, if the president demanded the release of the classified material, was it not done?
Why, if it has been withheld against his wishes, has he not protested?

Wait, I know. 3D chess. Right?
