I dunno if it could have been avoided but the opposition made it damn clear to potus long ago that any such pardon would cause obstruction charges and that it is the last thing he wanted to do. I think they got to him cause many of his friends are in jail and such.

I am speaking more of the mind of cohen in that you can bet that he was indeed hoping for a pardon but now since he is having one foot in the pokey he has decided he suddenly knows things that will keep him out.

Yeah, I know Antarctica and Alaska are different places , just interesting he's there for impromptu visit to Military base. Good use of time, make the best of an opportunity to end what seems to many to be a set back with NK, but it just seems to be more than meets the eye, and somehow China is a big part of these negotiations.

Troops and POTUS seem to be enjoying the visit.

The point of the summit , the one that ended in no deal , was about nk de nuking and peace in korea.

A separate deal done with the vietnamese has nothing to do with that.
