Because the wall isn't meant to keep people out. It's meant to keep them in.

Only logical reason I can think of.

Fair point, also it makes a great distraction from things that really matter.

So are you saying that me losing a business and my home to a flood of illegal immigrants in my trade doesn't "really matter"? What about all the families that have had their life's ruined due to an illegal immigrant that should have been deported, they don't "really matter" to you either? We're merely a distraction to you? Gotcha!

Well that certainly says and explains a lot about you and your positing history.

Your a fine one to talk about posting history, yours consists of defending racist lunatics Like Tommy Robinson, defending grown men that bash children, your a right wing lunatic with no moral standards.

Anyhow your representatives profit from this illegal trade, their hands are covered in the blood and sweat of illegal immigrants and you defend them for doing it, you are so far from seeing the big picture it's quite frankly disturbing.

The big stuff, like why there's a huge disparity between rich and poor, why the vast majority of us are the working poor, why education is failed, why gangs of youth have no hope and roam the streets in packs, why cities are slumming and falling to gangs... You know # that matters, the failing infrastructure the poor roads... Need I go on...

South America is crumbling, soon whole country’s will fall like dominos, refugees of socialism with nowhere to flee but north. More caravans will form, full of desperate people. Without a wall they will flood in uncontrollably and without vetting. With a wall we can control our border and filter the hundreds of thousands looking for asylum.

I’m all for helping people, but not at the risk of current citizens. Everyone waits their turn and we do the best we can to assist while also keeping Americans safe.

Oh, That's nothing but more of your lies and BS. I don't even know who Tommy Robinson is, I'm far from being right wing and yes, I have no problem with that dumbass wanna be gangsta biatch getting her ass handed to her. But of course I'm a lunatic with no morals, so there you go. Troll on

There is a huge disparity between rich and poor. Every time the poor start to get a foothold, another million Mexicans pours into the US and knocks them back down.

eta... Need I go on...

It's not the mexicans causing that it's the deeply seeded corruption within the political landscape.

How about competition for the lower paying jobs? Or is that just a trope? "the vast majority of us are the working poor"

"why education is failed" Combination of social Marxism and overloaded schools where many students can't even speak the language. Inadequate funding due to overloaded social services.

"gangs of youth have no hope and roam the streets in packs" Drug gangs, selling drugs from Mexico. Mexico is over run by drug gangs. It's become their way of life. I'm not saying every Mexican sells drugs but they just discovered that 3 Mexican presidents were on El Chapo's payroll.

"why cities are slumming and falling to gangs" Inner city slums are usually filled by recent immigrants that can't speak English therefore must resort to crime to make a living.

Maybe you can't blame it all on illegals but you must admit: It is a huge factor.

I'm uncertain the meaning of your question; I will paraphrase what I think you are asking, and answer that. Forgive me if I misunderstood.

"Why is the wall an emergency ... that it's funding has become the number one issue in Washington and the News; that our government is partially shutdown because of it and many people are going with out a paycheck as a result ... there are many other issues we could all agree are bigger than a wall that don't get the same attention and treatment ... why the shutdown over this issue?"

My answer to that question is; You are correct that there are a lot of issues that are bigger and more important than some Wall that may or may not be effective at stemming in the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants; you listed some of them.

However just because there may be more important issues to deal with doesn't mean "the wall" isn't important in it's own right. It is clearly important to the president and his supporters (who make up a large chunk of the population).

Just because the president has choosen to make building a wall a priority because he made a campaign promise to do so does not mean he or the rest of the government can not also make some of the other issues you mentioned a priority as well. Our government ought to be able to choo bubble gum and walk at the same time.

The other more important issues you mentioned are very complicated and have many tendrils in our society; it will take decades of consecutive efforts to solve them. We can not put every thing else on hold until they are solved. ... further more since we don't have a government that can effectively deal with a more simple, less important, issue such as the wall without out coming apart at the seams; it's even more illogical to wait until the bigger issues are solved before we deal with anything else ... cause that day will likely never come.

So you have a President who has decided to prioritize a more simple, less costly, and more easily definable and addressable issue than prioritizing the other issues you mentioned because he made a campaign promise to do so. There is really no big deal in that, presidents have done so since the founding of our country... my question is, why does the government need to implode as a result? Why can't we deal with this simple less important issue and move on to those other things you mentioned without loosing our collective $hit over it?

Of course the answer to my question is because we have a government full of leaders who care more about themselves than they do about solving issues and working for the American people. They would rather shutdown the government, and all the ills that come with that, just to "win" a political argument.

Many like to look at Trump and blame him for all of this. But I see that as extremely myopic, what we are witnessing goes far beyond Trump; its roots existed before Trump and it will continue to grow long after Trump leaves office.

the wall is not an emergency.... trying to get his signature campaign promise done is..... he thinks theres a chance he's gonna get elected again.... oh my.... if he even gets to run again...there is no way...

No it's a very small factor, like welfare only a small percentage of the budget is allocated to it, if you were really concerned about tax dollars you would scrutinize the extreme wastage our elected leaders are responsible for.

I've heard that Trump has no chance of winning his parties primary before; no chance of winning the national election; no way of winning enough electoral delegates ... there was simply no way ... yet here we are. What's different this time?

Just imagine the wall does get built. How does that harm you? What's the downside?

Tom54; it wouldn't harm me. The only downside I can think of is that we might have waisted money on something that didn't work. The longer the shutdown goes the less important that downside becomes.

yeah well he wouldn't have if Russia didn't help him cheat soooooo.

and what is different is we've seen what a trump presidency means and no one will vote him in again.... unless they are really stupid... but I think he's gonna be busy with impeachment and possibly jail anyway.
