Who doesn't think she is not about obstructionism ? Defiance and stubborn ambition. Everything she does from here on out can only be viewed in a negative way by appearances and by actions.

She’s just resisting the rise of the 4th Reich..

I know, right? I hope "they" haven't honed some nefarious plot.

I'm reminded of last year's SOTU and the phone texts and then the following train trip for that R Retreat. Some won't know what I'm talking about, but you will, I'm sure.

Indeed!

Also, the blame game is getting old besides the fact that it's pointless other than to influence people's political opinions over the situation, it's like watching school kids point the finger throwing dramatic fits, BUT..

The truth that I see, beyond the level of politics, is one person demanding money to build something, with the support of his political party, and the body that votes on the funds being allocated is saying no, you can't have it. Then, the person demanding it decides to continue his demand, despite it being voted against and despite public opinion overall is decidedly against it, intentionally allowing the Government to shut down for a new all-time record of the longest in history while hundreds of thousands of workers, families, and millions of citizens suffer due to not being paid and not having access to essential Government services, which will only get worse. Remember this: There was no popular political movements or agendas pushing for a wall spanning the entire border. It was an idea but never a major issue with major backing. Do you know why? Because it's not THAT important.

When will he relent, when the Government workers find other jobs, get foreclosed, can't afford groceries for their kids? And, would he even relent then? He seems detached from the reality of how much this is hurting so many people.

From the WaPo article on the fake WaPo paper that was being handed out by the White house, “The story this paper tells is more reasonable than our current reality.”

This person can't deal with actual reality, so they're attempting to make their own.

Talk about derangement.

Here is the letter:

Dear Mr. President:

On January 3rd, it was my privilege as Speaker to invite you to deliver the State of the Union address on January 29th. The Constitution calls for the President to “from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union.” During the 19th Century and up until the presidency of Woodrow Wilson, these annual State of the Union messages were delivered to Congress in writing. And since the start of modern budgeting in Fiscal Year 1977, a State of the Union address has never been delivered during a government shutdown.

In September 2018, Secretary Nielsen designated State of the Union Addresses as National Special Security Events (NSSEs), recognizing the need for “the full resources of the Federal Government to be brought to bear” to ensure the security of these events. The extraordinary demands presented by NSSEs require weeks of detailed planning with dozens of agencies working together to prepare for the safety of all participants.
The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events by Public Law 106-544, December 19, 2000. However, both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security have not been funded for 26 days now — with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs.

Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

NANCY PELOSI

Speaker of the House

Sounds like she wrote the letter to Donald Trump letting him know he's no longer invited to deliver his State of the Union address to Congress on January 29.

Some of that is just fluff:

85) More than 40,000 immigration hearings have been canceled because of the partial government shutdown, according to Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, which tracks immigration court data.
79) Canadian air traffic controllers ordered hundreds of pizzas for their American counterparts working without pay.
76) AT&T and other mobile providers are waiving late fees for the furloughed.
75) Some diversions for furloughed federal workers: George Mason University is giving free basketball tickets, a zoo in Oregon is offering free admission.
74) JP Morgan lowered its GDP estimate to 2 percent from 2.25 percent for the first quarter, primarily citing the shutdown, according to CNBC.
73) Bureau of Land Management found reserve funds to open an Alaska office to hold public meetings on an agency plan that would make Arctic land available for oil and gas leasing purchases.
71) The DOJ is asking a judge to put on hold a lawsuit brought by three senators who are challenging the President's appointment of Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker.
70) Trump canceled his planned trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
69) Taxicab and ride-sharing drivers in Washington reported less-than-average ridership as a result of there being fewer federal employees and tourists in the city during the shutdown, according to the Washington City Paper.
68) "US mass transit systems have temporarily lost financial aid that supports a wide range of needs, from daily maintenance and service to ongoing repair and expansion projects," according to a report from the credit ratings agency Moody's.
67) People missing immigration court dates because of the shutdown are being given new dates years from now, according to The New York Times.
55) A lawsuit that claims Trump violated the emoluments clause with his Trump International Hotel in Washington has been placed on hold indefinitely, according to Politico.
52) Universities are claiming that the shutdown is affecting families' ability to verify their income through the IRS, making it harder for them to secure federal student loans, The Washington Post reported. The IRS denies the claims, according to the Post.
51) Federal workers around the country took part in rallies against the shutdown.
50) Julie Burr, a federal contract worker in Kansas City, Missouri, set up a GoFundMe account to help pay rent.
49) Banks and credit unions catering to federal workers offered assistance like no-interest payroll loans.
37) DC businesses are giving federal employees discounts. There are free bagels from a bakery across from the closed National Zoo, and bottomless mimosas and bloody marys for $15 every day at a restaurant. Shutdown-themed drinks are being served at Capitol Hill bars.
35) The office responsible for issuing marriage licenses in Washington, DC, was closed. The City Council passed an emergency bill to reopen it.
34) The Trump administration has promised that tax refunds will be mailed on time and has not yet delayed the tax filing day because it will call back workers from furlough.
30) The owner of a small IT company in North Carolina can't close on a Small Business Administration loan that's already been approved for a new commercial property. He could lose the property along with the money he's sunk into appraisals and fees, according to The Washington Post.
20) States like Oklahoma are delaying contracts for new road and bridge work because of the uncertainty of federal funds.
13) After Nature reported repairs to one of the Hubble telescope's main instruments might have to wait until after the shutdown, NASA clarified on January 11 that the repairs would not be delayed.
9) The Department of Justice has asked for a delay to a lawsuit that could invalidate the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, under which millions obtain health insurance.
5) Transportation Security Administration workers have engaged in sickouts (alo see #71) to silently protest being forced to work without pay or to take temporary jobs in order to pay their bills.
4) In the January jobs report, most of the workers who have been furloughed will be counted as unemployed, affecting the unemployment rate.

All fluff, but the one that's been getting me the most is this one :

2) 420,000 federal employees are working without pay.

While it is true that some of these people are not getting paid, what's not being stated is that the DoD workers have already been funded till end of fiscal year 2019. I know many people the are DoD employees, and yes they are concerns, but no that they have in fact been paid on the last pay period. So not all, and I don't know that exact number, of these 420,000 employee have been paid and they should still be getting a check on the next pay period as well.

All the media did was to take a Congressional talking point about how many workers there are, and push that fact as none of them getting paid. No research by the part of the media to fact check the facts.

Alas though, your walls of texts seem to be either from a hype source, or are created by you to fluff up the issue. You have asked if a wall is worth all this; well to be perfectly honest boarder security is that important when you reflect back on how much crime goes on along these boarder areas, and when you look at how much of that crime bleeds into the American Heartland.

So I have to ask why do think that a wall isn't important to National Security?

Homeland Security and the Secret Service said that Nancy Pelosi never contacted them to find out if it was safe or not for the State of the Union Address to be held during a government shutdown.

"Commiecrats"? "Jackass's"? Dude, be less transparent on who is pushing division. It'll make you look like waaayyyy less of a hypocrite.

Trump won on a campaign of division. His backers love the division. Love his 'trolling'. Love his name-calling. Division is all he's got. And you illustrate that full stop. ATS has become a mess. Sad.

NO! Let's be CLEAR on who is pushing back!
The CommieCrats (passing laws against the US Constitution and it's Amendments) and their Antifa buddies pushed, shoved and began the assault first!
Do you really expect that the people of this nation, who have paid for this freedom with their blood, their families blood, to roll over and let this divisionist, socialistic movement take over without objection! That's delusional!

As far as r0xor's exhaustive delineation, this is all on the shoulders of the CommieCrats. They refused to comprimise, but we all know that. They vacationed OUTSIDE the continental U.S., on taxpayer's blood and sweat, during the shutdown. All while President Trump STAYED at the White House, willing to work out a deal. But of course, your glasses filtered that part out, huh?

Oh boy. Gimme a break with all your flag waving and Trump idol worship. You are no more of an American than the rest of us. I'm the 15th generation here in this country. My family was here prior and then paid in blood fighting for the independence of the USA (and subsequently). Your loud minority of division that has been empowered by Trumps Biff Tannen approach has done nothing but push and divide. And your post(s) make that extremely obvious. But hey, keep on with the name-calling and low grade rhetoric, you're making y'all look wonderful.

Senile Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is calling on Trump to delay the State of the Union address until the shut down quagmire is fixed.

Yup she is still on the "any means necessary" jag to keep her agenda going.

She says he should put the address "in writing" as an "alternative" 😂

What possible difference would it make if Trump delays the State of the Union address ?

Pelosi urges Trump to delay State of the Union until government shutdown ends

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took the extraordinary step Wednesday of urging President Trump to delay his State of the Union address until the partial government shutdown ends, or submit the address in writing.

The president has been slated to deliver his televised annual address to a Joint Session of Congress on Jan. 29. But with no compromise in sight to resolve the standoff over government funding -- a stalemate that extended into its 26th day, with the impact deepening for furloughed federal workers and others -- Pelosi, D-Calif., suggested Trump put those plans on hold.

What a great opportunity for Trump...I love it...

Trump's last SOTU address was great.

I'm looking forward to the next one.

My favorite part of the SOTU is where they trot out the stories of some remarkable Americans. Sure, it's political, but the stories are always GREAT to hear.
