That's the exact opposite of what I said. I said I don't agree with them because of their tactics. I did however say that the constant whataboutism used to deflect from neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups makes no sense.

That's because Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups aren't a part of "us" unless you are living in leftist land because it's a convenient place to put them because it makes you feel better about things.

I can't stop them from voting. Like it or not, they have rights too unless they've done something criminal to make them felons ... unless they live in states like Florida where Democrats recently let felons vote again. It's convenient to assign them a "side" for political points against your ideological opponents for leverage and to make the groups you pander to come to you out of fear.

"Oh look ... that neo-Nazi dude voted for the Republican. That means all Republicans are neo-Nazis ... well, not all but all neo-Nazis are Republicans, and look at the rise of neo-Nazi groups!" And don't try to deny this is exactly what happens and what is going on here.

Charlottesville? A few hundred to a couple thousand or so ... from all across the country. That's total. The rest were counter protestors. Which group do you think has the larger presence? And we should be thankful for that ... instead, it's Armageddon and horrific because a couple thousand were there ... in a country of 350 million.

Are there extremist groups? Do they talk about violent things? I'm sure there are, but aside from the left-wing poster in this thread, I have never in my life heard of Atomwaffen, and I'm sure I make the list of the so-called bigoted, racist, what-have-yous for several in this discussion, so I should know, right? Right?! But I have no clue who they are.

I didn't know who Christian Identity was until a black facebook friend kept posting their stuff and wondering what was wrong with Christians, and I did some research on where he was getting it from.

Just like I had no clue who or what Dominionism was until a different left-wing poster here kept bringing it up to rub in my face as a Christian because she was sure I was secretly a part of it.

Sometimes, you guys create your own monsters.

Any thread, with even slightest criticism of far right groups gets hijacked by Trump cult

Opposing left wing hate groups: Racist and bigoted.

Got it.

'Right wing extremism'= LEFT WING BIGOTRY.

Now state sanctioned.

Wasn't white nationalist that attacked the world trade center in the 90s, or the twin towers, or that was going around murdering, raping, and cutting kids in half over in the middle east.

Everyone knows who the real terrorists are, and it's the GD left wing of 'Murica.

I don't understand how 9/11 or ISIS have any relevance with right wing terrorist groups in USA?
You're a terrorist whether you blow yourself up in the name of Allah or Jesus or (insert your terrorism flavour of the day) ____________.
Or do you think that some forms of bigotry and terrorism are more acceptable than others?

Exactly this. But they will try to deny it.

That's another irony. These white nationalists and racists are loving the free press they're getting from those who fear them. They've been around for god-knows-how-long, and have been marching in the streets for decades with little to fanfare. But as soon as people start fantasizing about the far-right, Nazis and the KKK in the press, these groups get some new members. The Charlottesville incident would not have happened had the press not sensationalized it.

And on THIS thread, there is not ONE post ‘defending’ any “Nazi filth”.

Funny that. The “right” seems to OPPOSE hate groups. Why doesn’t the “lEft”?

Seems everyone who disagrees with you is a Nazi.

Seems like a viewpoint a Nazi would adopt really.

Then one of is us is woefully confused.

I've said in the past that I have no problem with the core message of groups like Antifa (fascists suck) and BLM (stop shooting black people just for being black) but I'm opposed to their more extreme methods.

You know who else also agrees with the message that 'fascist suck' and that cops should 'stop shooting black people just for being black?'

Pretty much every normal American. You can't have one without the other, you agree with the extremists intent and reason for existing.

Here’s the thing, as I’ve said elsewhere on this thread, people shouldn’t defend actual Nazis or racists. However, many liberals are calling virtually anything they want racist, Nazi, sexist, you name it. Then anybody who disagrees with these ever changing and ever expanding labels is “defending Nazis.”

Um....
Well, loosely translated, that version could mean the current climate against men right now, from women would qualify, wouldn't it?
A lot of women out there right now, are preaching hate against men.
So they are a hate group.

I don't see this ending well for anyone.

I’m going to say a truth: as a proportion of the population, not only are there far more self identified leftist radicals, they are far more socially accepted. The number of actual Nazis and kkk members is tiny, which fbi stats show.

I know zero self identifying kkk members or Nazis. I know scores of self identifying communists or radicals, myself formerly one of them.

I've been on ATS for a little while now, and I've yet to run into a "neo-Nazi" here.

I don't think most people throwing the term around could even define what it is, for that matter.

And there's a reason for that. Without clear definition, the term can mean whatever it's users want it to mean, with all the negative connotations already attached.

White? Male? Not poor?

You're a f# Nazi.

It's ridiculous but it's exactly what they do. Same thing with "fascism", "socialism", and a host of other words they manipulate the meaning of at will.

Calling bulls# on that one.

As I said, these hearings might do some good if they were on extremism in general. There are several types, and it would also serve as a good reminder that not all extremism is necessarily bad, either. You could say that living an Amish lifestyle is a form of religious extremism, but by and large, the Amish are hurting no one so long as they are living lifestyles they choose.

That is not to say that bad things never happen among the Amish, like all people, there are bad and good and bad things do happen, but the base lifestyle itself is simply extreme by most people's understanding and definition.

Sure, relative to the mean or modern culture many things are “extreme.” Same with monks, communes, hippies, etc.

But I think by extreme it’s more defined as ideology that is revolutionary, violent, or highly discriminatory in nature.
