It's at a hospital that specializes in hernia repair, I have a massive hernia from the WSM contest, and only Stanford or UCLA would even consider or look at it?

Thanks for pointing that out, it begs a pondering -- doesn't going out of the country even for medical stuff sort of fly in the face of the whole MAGA/Keep It In The Country stance of the right, though? What makes this any different than raw materials or imported goods? Somebody's still making a buck at the end of the day, and at the end of the day, American money went to Canadian doctors IN Canada, not American ones stateside.

Just pointing that out.

What I’m grasping is he is going to Canada to get what he feels is the the best treatment, not America. Hypocrite........ none of his sycophants here will be able to do this. However, this treatment is free (well define free I suppose) for Canadians, private hospital or not. What part is so hard to understand? Sounds to me like they are receiving the best hernia healthcare available. Our system isn’t good enough for him, but theirs is. Seriously I don’t believe right wingers have a clue how the Canadian system works.

Except your post answered that too.

It's only covered if you live in provice. Last I checked, Canada has more than one huge province. Plans from other provinces may not cover it or may not cover it completely. This is not so difference from how American insurance works on the whole. Some providers may cover a service or provider while others may not.

Not only that, but if that provider is best in the world at that service has little to do with whether or not an insurance will cover that provider.

In retrospect I wish I would have left the hypocrite part out of my post. Being a libertarian he is only following his own philosophy. I was in a hurry and didn’t choose my headline carefully. The gist was more about, hey rwnj’s look what your betters do when they need healthcare. But it’s pointless, because they don’t care. If we had the best healthcare he wouldn’t have had to go to Canada to pay out of pocket for what they get for free. And from what I read on their website it seems people from other provinces can also go there. That’s as far as I read. I don’t fully understand their system, and how it works between provinces.

Silly me, I feel as though every American should have the best treatment available too, with no regard given to their ability to pay.

No, you're right. We don't care. We like having the freedom to do what you need to within your means. That's what liberty means.

I told you ... I've done it myself as I need to. I wish I had the liberty to do it more often, but socialists like you want to take more of my hard-earned money away so that I can't.

I don’t consider myself a socialist. But when it comes to certain matters, socialist leanings are best. Water supply, waste removal and healthcare are a few that come to mind. Oh and of course you have (insert lie here). . Every right wing nut job I have encountered on the internet is whatever the situation calls for. It’s amazing. It’s almost like they are lying liars who lie...... thank you for not disappointing me.

I'm Australian. In my country we have the freedom to do what we need within our means. We also have a few rights that you guys don't have in the USA.

I've often wondered why a nation as rich and powerful as yours has such a backward, expensive, inefficient healthcare system.

Another day, another right winger proving they are nothing more than liars and hypocrites, yawn.

www.courier-journal.com...

I have no idea if this is a legit news source. I hope it’s a sad joke. But somehow I get the feeling it’s true.

Personally I would accept Canadian citizenship in a second and never look back.

I’m surprised that a scumbad like Paul would allow the evil socialized medical system like the one in Canada even take an X-ray.

Another day, another idiot post...

Do you ever get tired of being proven wrong or having your arguments / positions deconstructed and refuted?

I wish we could give negative stars and negative flags.

The current system goes back to when a certain party decided that some people made too much in wages and they instituted wage caps. At that point, employers had a quandry -- how do you lure in the best workers if you cannot pay them more than the others as an enticement?

So, some enterprising person decide they could offer a perk of health insurance which had previously been an expensive extra people could buy, but most people simply paid for their health care bills out of pocket. So the health care market was very affordable to the average person. This was back in the day when doctors still did house calls and stuff too.

Well, sooner or later, the idea of offering these things called "benefits" of which health insurance was one caught on in the labor market and workers started to expect it as part of an overall employment package, and when the labor unions of post WWII grabbed it and demanded it as part of their contracts, it was all over. Now most everyone in the country had insurance. So even when the wage caps were dropped, there was no going back.

Now, health providers quickly learned that insurance companies are much richer than any single entity in the middle class, and at that point, the price distortions we see today began.

So really, you have to go all the way back and look at which political party's bright idea it was to institute wage controls because the current market is one of the unintended consequences of that decision.

Hey Soundguy, why are you still in Ahia? If Canada won't let you in legally, just walk over the border, cast a few votes for Trudeau, and demand welfare. They'll take care of you medically in an understaffed system and if you die waiting for an appointment, tough. You can also do what more than a few Canadians do which is to head south to the US and get relatively instant care without a queue.

There is a downside to everything.
