You read the bottom of the article where it happened multiple times without a shutdown?

"I done caughts me a terrorist!" - said no TSA agent ever

I think a govt shutdown should be a regular thing. Dec 15th to Jan 15th every year. Maybe have it be a little more documented on what's available and what's not. And no back pay. This could solve our deficit crisis.

I thought was kind of alarming that so many rwnj’s try to smuggle their precious on to planes. What’s wrong with those mental defectives? Do they think that laws don’t apply to them? Or do they just selectively follow the ones they agree with?

Many times people forget as the article you linked explains, he was the one who reported it.

That was a head scratcher. I guess he thought he would get busted in Japan? I don’t want anyone that mentally unstable armed and sitting with me on a plane. Well unless I need a meat shield. Then they would be quite handy to have around. But that need is doubtful on a plane. a reply to: AugustusMasonicus

Whatevs. As a regular flyer I'm glad the TSA is not there, they are useless.

I have traveled extensively out of the country. I pretty much detest the tsa. However, I do treat them with respect, and follow their rules and directives to the letter. Getting out isn’t so bad, but getting back in, forget about it. I’m not scheduled to fly out again for a couple months. I hope trump has came to his senses before then. a reply to: AugustusMasonicus

The issue is not me treating them with respect, it's how those wastrels treat the public.

The trickle down is pretty real for those of us in the DC/DMV area. I sell parts...and a good many of our customers are either government or government contractors. Not to mention a good portion of our clients are government workers. Our sales are down by about 30%, as far as I see it.

So I'm directly impacted by such things.

On a side note, business goes down by about 35-40% just before every national election as well. One of the few places in the country that it happens.

considering this issue has been kicked down the road since Reagon it is time for it to be done period. Illegal immigration was a known issue then and is a known issue now. Agreements were met then to get something done and no one did their job then. In the private sector if you don't do your job a few days you're likely to lose your job. Unfortunately, our government thinks its ok to go decades kicking a can down the road its time someone got fired.

This is why we have not noticed a difference besides at the airport where government implemented a take over of security services (TSA) who are also are just as inefficient as every other bloated bureaucratic department in government. Seriously Trump wins again by exposing the inefficiency of government and the inability of the legislative branch to function without bribes from corporate and special interests.

Where're the Democrats last week but schmoozing with the lobbyist on the beach. Getting paid off for being obstructiveness to the mission the American people have sent a man to do. Congress stop selling us out!

Nothing in this world would thrill me more than removing every single TSA agent, permitting specified flights as smoking permitted, and making seats actually large enough to cram one's normal sized behind into. So to me, this is just one giant step in the right direction to maybe make airline travel available to me again. I don't need a stranger juggling my goodies to feel good. I have other, ahem, outlets.

It's only a head-scratcher if you think of guns as some sort of demonic entity that travels around with bad people to keep them company. They're not; they're a tool. Forgetting you have a gun in a bag is sort of like forgetting you have your screwdriver with you.

Not affecting me per se...but us 1st Responders, many funded in and out of grants, programs and Civic budgets...well...

Like the fires in Cali...events like Katrina or Florence...or a terror attack, chemical train explosion...biohazard event....a mass casualty event...let em burn and let a few nefarious looking people and bags in because the TSA are home today, not ckg nothin'!

We ain't comin'. Sorry...all plane, train, car, truck, boarders, immigration., customs...you're all on your own.

We ain't comin'...think about that for a sec. Great time for bad guys to take advantage of this blackmail nonsense.

Just remember who caused all this..and it wasn't the Dems.

No I’m not affected at all by the partial shutdown. I wonder what the next missed pay period brings to those who are.

dailycaller.com...

Yes. It's from the Daily Caller. Some of you will automatically poo-poo it, and because an anonymous administration insider government worker wrote it, it will be further reason you may discount it.

But, the article is right. Our federal bureaucratic bloat is weighty on us for many reasons. This article lays it out. I don't think the information is anything we didn't already know or suspect, but seeing and hearing it solidifies some basic common sense conclusions.

The federal government is full of waste, abuse, and non-essential personnel.

Watching porn on gov't time?
Spending large portions of their day planning personal schedules, vacations, weekends, etc.?
More than we need.

How has it affected me, directly it has not

Reading more threads about American Politics, meh its what ATS is now, the usual your fault/their fault with the majority of US citizens stuck in the middle

We have underpaid civil workers in the UK (schools, NHS, Police etc) in my own opinion ALL are underpaid and overworked but they are paid each month unless they go on strike, is that not what civilised governments should do, serve we the people or should we the people just turn up for free (back to serfdom), I imagine a good majority will turn up for free though as they feel responsible/duty to others, all while trying to survive the first paycheque after Christmas, which is harsh for most of us even when we get paid due to the spending the previous month.

If when Brexit happens (whoever is PM at time) and civil workers in the UK have to go unpaid due to "reasons", I would vote against that leader/party at the next oppurtunity as they IMO have failed, I am a civilian working in the private sector but anybody going to work MUST get paid for completion of their contractual duties.
