Do you want to play a game?

It’s a non political-political game:

Name a far right figure
Name a right wing figure
Name 2 centerist figures
Name a left wing figure
Name a far left figure

It will be interesting to see if people pick the figures based on their own ideology, the figured’ Ideology, or just put people they don’t like as far away from their political views.

I will give my answers later today, because there might be a follow up post were I categorize the answers and then the board can go through each group.

I'll bite... These are my opinion. YMMV.

Far right wing, I can't think of anyone in particular, but I usually think of religious right when I hear far right wing.

Right wing, I'd say someone like Reagan

Centrist, I'd say Bill Clinton and maybe even JFK

Left Wing, I'd say someone like Obama

Far Left Wing, I'd say someone like Bernie Sanders or AOC. Typical Antifa, LBGT, SJW, college student "woke" types...

Sticking to America (reasoning: because I know the US political system best), and basing it on their policies compared to actual political parties' policies...

Far Right = William Daniel Johnson or Rocky Suhayda

Right = Reagan

Centrist = Bill Clinton or John Kasich

Left = Obama (borderline centrist but left enough to name him, I guess)

Far Left = Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

ETA: This game would be more fun if people were to name actual politicians/specific examples, rather than "this lady" and "typical Antifa". Just sayin', stick to specifics, it'll be more interesting, and the poll will last longer.

Interesting idea...

Far-right (Fascist): Benito Mussolini
Mid-right (Nationalist): Donald Trump
Right-wing (Republican): Rand Paul
Right-center (Libertarian): Ron Paul
Left-center (Classic Liberal): Dennis Kucinich
Left-wing (Democrat): Barack Obama
Mid-left (Socialist): Bernie Sanders
Far-left (Communist): Mao Zedong

Obviously it's not quite that simple, when you get to the far edges it starts to loop back around. For example Mussolini wrote the "Doctrine of Fascism" yet was heavily involved in the Italian Socialist Party for a period of time. Also keep in mind he allied with Hitler, and Hitler promoted an ideology called "National Socialism", it was a blend of nationalist ideals and socialist ideals. In reality that type of ideology is not far off from the type of far-left Marxist ideologies promoted by people such as Mao Zedong, he led the Communist Party of China throughout the "Great Leap Forward" and is often referred to as a "Chinese nationalist". The goal is to make their nation strong and prosperous, but also maintain strict control over the population.

So they employ nationalism to promote patriotism and faith in government, but also employ communism or heavy socialism because they view that as the most effective way to control all aspects of the economy rather than leave it up to random market forces. In reality it's a naive approach to building a nation, society isn't like an ant farm, freedom and liberty is always preferable to authoritarian dictatorships. Sure you can build a nation using nationalism and socialism, much like China has, but I for one would much prefer to live in a western democracy than live under the ever watchful eye of the Chinese government, where half the internet is blocked and I have to accept dystopian crap such as a social credit system.

Kinda disappointing this thread died, I think the post before this is one of the most insightful political posts I've ever made.
