You can kill lots of people easily as long as you don't have any relationship with them or motive to do it, and you spread it out over long distances and periods of time.

It also helps these days if you don't leave any decent DNA evidence behind because if you do they'll find you through your ancestry curious relatives.

P.S. -- It also helps to kill people who the police are not all that happy to have around in the first place. It really makes them quite unmotivated to find the killer.
