The same people tend to think that freedom is just freedom from responsibility which isn't really freedom at all, not in the proper sense of the word. We were all free of responsibility as kids, but we also hated it when our parents made decisions for us too. This is the same. Sure we'll not have to be responsible for our lives, but we won't have much choice in how to conduct those lives either.

Can't we just be honest and call it what it is?

It's communism.

Communism.

I've read that the "Green Movement" was co-opted by the Reds, so to speak. Maybe there is more truth to that than many would want to admit.

It's actually pretty well documented. Hidden and suppressed of course but it's out there.

Academia and Hollywood were absolutely co-opted to. The Left says Mccarthyism was a joke and unjust but he was absolutely correct. The Reds had infested Hollywood and now pump out the same dreck that Coetez spews.

And Academia? Well that one is pretty damn obvious isn't it?

I was going to make a long, drawn out post countering some (if not all) of your points but it's not worth the effort.

I support the plan and agree with its overall objectives.

Ah good job Comrade! With this plan we will reshape the world, destroy the bourgeois scum and lift the proletariat out from under the shackles of American Imperialism!!!!!!!

I can't believe people like you still exist in this world

All that technology and access to the entirety of human knowledge and not a whit of interest in learning anything.

You Communists are sickening. How many countries do you have to destroy before yoj figure out that your idiotic ideology is impossible?

How many more dead? 100 million? 500 million? 2 Billion? Any death toll is acceptable to try and achieve your insanity hey?

You are insane. Absolutely Joseph Stalin level of insanity.

There is reason they're called watermelons - green on the outside, red on the inside.

In a sane world they should be called Patient 2355-173.

yeah, because those are all based within a Capitalist system, there will NEVER be free health care as long as capitalism is the system in place and there is the idea that paper has monetary value because it will require money from somewhere

not so long ago Trump even advocated for Universal Health Care, and he is a hyper-capitalist

you want to see what transitioning to 100% renewable energy (electricity) in 10 years looks like? look to the north. specifically Ontario Canada. it's been around ten years. and it is nowhere near 100% renewable energy. but the liberal government (democrat's twin party), did push hard for that renewable energy. the result? sky rocketing electricity prices. to the point where it has been seriously hurting people. i know people who to try to save even just a bit of money had to start "heating" their homes only to 58f and below. with people complaining of electricity bills that were close to their mortgage costs. end result was that the liberal party was pretty much obliterated in the last election, and this was one of the major reasons why.

so we have the example of what this will do to the cost of electricity, ie it will drive the costs much higher. so the cost will be even more than people think, since the government will have to pay for all that extra, on top of the massive funding to build it. because people will not be able to afford it otherwise. and as we see they want to "guarantee" people have it and other utilities.

seriously this new green deal is completely unsustainable (and i'm not talking about energy). and a majority of it sounds exactly like Russian COMMUNISIM from the bad old days. well except for the drawdown of military spending. but then who needs a military when the Marxist dream of world communism takes over world wide as foretold by communist/Marxist doctrine. and by taking out and converting the main country that fought against communism that means far less military power would be needed to take out any holdout countries. even the biggest military threat to the world right now China would be on their side.

this new green deal could easily be considered the biggest threat human kind has seen to things like freedom in history. and yet most of the younger generation being programed and conditioned to want it, will be singing it's praises and working to make it happen.

Fellow Canuck here. Alberta.

What was done to Ontario beggars the imagination. I never in my life thought I would see the absolute destruction visited upon the Liberal Party of Ontario. Blew my mind when they were reduced to non-party status. That is an earthquake in any political scene.

If this plan were to go through it would be 1000 years of darkness and misery while those at the top lived EXACTLY as they did before the Great Shutoff.

Make no mistake, the Gores and the Xi's of the world would suffer absolutely no reduction in lifestyle. At all. But in their minds flying in a private jet would be ok because all the other pollution would be gone.

This plan is absolute madness and anyone that advocates or agrees with it should be thrown into a mental institution immediately.

This is straight up Communism. 100%.

Madness that this would gain any traction at all.

This plan isnt Democratic Socialism or Socialism.

Its straight up Communism that will lead to absolute anarchy. But that's what you love about it isn't it?

You're just as batsnip crazy as Comrade Links.

you lot are so cynical and bitter and cruel, it says SO much that you use 'utopian' as a perjorative.

so what's your alternative? just keep on running on that treadmill, reaching out for the single dollar the fat man holds just beyond your reach while he gets richer and richer, ignoring the unfolding catastrophe around us til we're all twenty feet below sea level? sounds great actually trying to make the world better is for losers

Do you know what Utopia means? No Place.

It is unobtainable. There will never be utopia. No system will ever create it because such a thing would depend on men to create and run and sustain it. I know my fellow man, and he is stupid, greedy, vain, and selfish in the main. The best way to deal with that is to let him go his own way and sink or swim on his own. Lump his fortunes in with mine and those who aren't willing to work will exploit those who do.

Ten years? I guess Rome really was built in a day.

I accept we can phase out coal but ten years? it took skunkworks more time than that to develop a bloody stealth fighter! This woeful sales pitch is almost as hilarious as this Chevrolet sales pitch.

You know about all the evil big corporations that are moving away from fossil fuel right?

Can't do it overnight like the utopians would like to see because "overnight" would kill 3 billion people.

Today about 8% of the U.S. electricity is solar.

MSM is reluctant to tell you however. Can't imagine why 😂

Oh I have all sorts of solutions.

I have a youtube channel where i discuss them, I post them on ats regularly.

Utopian reach seems noble but history shows leads to atrocities again and again, even when the best of intentions are applied.

Of course trying to make the world better isnt for losers.

Coming up with plans that will make the world much worse though doesnt mean that plan shouldnt be criticized.

This is an important point.

I was discussing cliomate change with a friend of mine that thinks we are all dead in 100 years; claims its basically a scientific consensus (I dont agree, but fine)

I asked him what solutions he would propose. he says the nimmediate banning of fossil fuels.

I ask him if that would save us from extinction. He says its probably already too late, but there is a small chance it could stave of the extinction for a while.

I ask him if he is 100 percent certain of that extinction. He says not a 100% but almost positive.

I explain that the overnight end of fossil fuels would lead to billions of people dying horrific deaths in the near future. SStarvation, disease, exposure, bloodshed that would resukt from resource wars. And that it would be the poor that would be totally wiped out. Probably more than half the population of the world.

He says its worth the risk.

So in effect, my friend isnt 100 percent certain, but close to it the world will end, that there is pretty much nothing we can do about it, but we should enact a policy leading to the deaths of billions of predominantly poor people.

If there is even a slight chance his extremly bold prediction that we are extinct in 100 years is wrong, he has advocated for the brutal death of billions of people just so he can feel good.

And many many people feel just like him.

That is the problem.

I have friends that I disagree with politically but I can honestly say I dont have any friends like that guy.

Are you still friends with him? And if so, why? That guy is quite clearly a lunatic.

He'd make a great guard in the camps. Or as a Commissar in the Cheka.

He's basically Mao, Hitler or Stalin without the power. I'd divest myself of that guy pdq if I was you.
