Politics today.

The "people" and I'll go on a limb and say most people, want;

More freedoms
More liberties
More stuff
Free stuff
fewer bills
less worry about retirement
cheaper stuff.

Lets cross the top two right off the list. No politician on either side is going to reduce laws, grant more freedoms, more liberties. Sure, they'll legalize pot in a few states, but basically, between Facebook, Google, Apple, Twitter and Comrade Uncle Sam, we live in an authoritarian state.

More stuff, cheaper stuff, free stuff. Trade deals, manufacturing, and government give-a-ways. People don't want to pay for anything now-a-days, they want free crap. Free education, free housing, free medical. The concept of earning through work enough to purchase has gone away.

Fewer bills, less worry about retirement. Basically it comes back to government. People have abdicated their rights to self determine. It used to be up to the individual as to how they would spend their retirement. Now most want to leave it into the hands of government.

What it boils down to is that too many want communism/socialism (whatever you Nancy's are calling it) now. Too many to be ignored.

It took a few decades, but the Soviets finally won!

I have no solution as to how to reverse this direction we're headed. And even if I did, no one would listen, so what's the point?

Might as well laugh and enjoy life while America burns to a communist bbq briquette.

Yeah, that famous Ben Franklin quote is coming true...

"When people find they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the Republic" - Ben Franklin

Wish I could disagree with you, but you hit the nail right on the head. This nation has gone soft. Communism/socialism, just rebranded itself to appeal to the give me generation.

Yup, seems inevitable.

Socialist distopia on it's way. Bread lines and gulags to follow.

I'm not sure about most, but enough that they'll force the rest of us to go along whether we want to or not.

In a lot of cases, it's not even that. Basic education in economics and adulting could help a lot of those kids.

But isnt this what "Real" humans Really want?

Perhaps the ancient cultures had it right......wake up when you need too, wonder around picking berries and bugs, have'nt eaten in a week? oh time to kill some food, Mmmm its hot, Im tired, time for a rest under that tree......you know, the life of a Human animal.

Or perhaps the ancient civilizations had it better, I can just imagine a slave in Egypt or Rome or South America or any of those types..............
Oh boy Oh boy, another day, another 12 hours of back breaking work in the hot Sun, with little food or water, whipped into submission....I wonder who will die today, Jeb, Josia, Jimbob?
OR a Roman Centurion.....Ah what, another day another Kill, Cant wait to get into those fields and kill me some barbarians, I wonder how many of my mates will die today on the end of a barbarian poisoned spear.....but what a grand death.

To today's Industrial revolution.....
Yeah, its 6.30 am, time to rush around, get ready, drive 1 hour in peak hour traffic at snails pace, to go to that wonderful factory, to sit for 8 hours and watch a machine go Ping, then rush home to rest, to do it all again.....just so I can pay rich people for the privilege of buying a home and nice car, a tv, electric power and water, and go on the computer to talk to my real forum mates.......wow, what a great life I have....

Still, in the 70s and 80s they told us all how computers and automation was to save humanity, and how we will have all this free spare time to explore, go fishin, maybe jet skiing, Have All this leisure time.........

But now 2019, people are again saying, oh you is lazy, yous want it all for free, yous dont wants to work, yous is a leech, Dems people need to be bombed etc etc etc......exactly the opposite of what we are suppose to be striving for....peace and living free.

Maybe the Africans and Australian peoples had it right all along.........wonder around, picking berries and bugs, havent eaten in a week time to kill something,....feel tired, have a rest under a shady tree.......
Im pretty sure the Fijians, Samoans, Hawiians, Tahitians, Tongans had a pretty good life on their islands too, until white man came and showed them how to Really live........

Would be a matter of circumstance. Someone who solely works to survive doesn't always have that luxury. They don't teach much valuable civics and economics these days in K-12.

As in most things, quality over quantity.

Don't just blame the left or socialists... ya bunch of dimwits.

Everybody is complicit in the problem... From the most wealthiest billionaires down to the poorest have nots within society.

We all want it all, but can't have it!

Not sure exactly. It's a multifaceted problem that took four generations to get this far.

Except I don't want it all. I mostly have right what I need. I've learned the trick that most people seem to have failed to master. I've learned how to be content with what I have. It doesn't mean I don't aspire to more and better, but I don't pin my happiness on it either.

You should try it. It's much better than living solely for materialism.

Yeah, no.

I'm blaming the leftists for indoctrinating over the past couple of decades to where we are now.

We're left with a population of whiny-assed bitches who couldn't drive a stick shift, can't live without their cell phone, and couldn't field dress a deer if their panty-waisted lives depended on it.

Jesus!

People get offended over statues and have them torn down now.

How effing weak does our population need to get!

You have to pull your kids out of their schools.

Until people understand that and start actually doing it there is no hope.

But in our society if you criticize the schools or teachers, or any aspect of the system, you're f# vilified.

That is, if they can't destroy you outright. It's intimidating but it has to be done. You gotta pull em out.

And if you don't understand why or disagree you are part of the problem.

Already home school our youngest.

Giving him a fighting chance at least to be on top of the food chain instead of one of the skinny-jeaned drones.

So your saying if you were just suddenly stripped of all your materialistic objects, you'd be completely content with that and able to comfortably survive?
