That's because the other tribes that have casinos are paying him not to recognize them.

Governor Cuomo Pardons 22 Illegals ... but denies recognition to Montaukett Indian nation.

Clearly Cuomo isn't intrested in a "more just, more fair and more compassionate New York" ... just one that sticks it to Trump on national media.

ALBANY — For the third time, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has vetoed a bill that would have given state recognition to the Montaukett Indian nation.

www.newsday.com...

I'm going to write a letter to the Montaukett Indian nation and advise them to get into a Twitter fight with Trump ... than they will get the more just, more fair and more compassionate New York out of Cuomo.

Ask him if he supports Lieawatha claiming to be Cherokee. The response might be priceless.

I read every single one.

No rapists.

And no murderers were pardoned and I’m getting called the liar.

Amazing.

Central America is laughing at how naive and passive the u.s. has become.

This was a disgusting move and shows where the minds of Democrats are. How they get votes is beyond me.

Cuomo did this in the past. Some he pardoned went on to continue crime.

There is almost an epidemic level of money being spent jailing and persecuting people never supposed to be there.

There is a level of prevention that the Democrats are completely ignoring.

Their motto is if they help a few hundred, it's a fair price to pay if 1 or 2 Americans are killed in the process.

Absolutely disgusting

How is a state governor pardoning these clowns going to keep the feds from deporting them if they illegal? New yorkians seem to think they their own country. Let me break it down for you if an individual breaks a federal law a state governor can not pardon or absolve them of said crime because he does not have that power..

Yup, I clearly heard a violin playing in the background as I read what the convicts were in for. All I got out of it is that they knew how to play the system. They have 24hrs a day seven days a week to plan.

Cuomo and his brother both have Mussolini complexes. They want to let the lowest form of scum run NY while telling law abiding citizens to give up their guns and pay higher taxes. They are true Nazi Socialists and that is why people are fleeing that failing state.

Ok bring forth the evidence they are. Either way, this whole thread just turned into a xenophobic circle jerk. Majority of those people who committed crimes are either not immigrants at all, or didnt immigrate from Mexico, but all i see here is really call for wall building.

I don't think it's xenophobic to want people who committed murder to stay in jail. Show me one post in this thread of someone saying there should be no immigration whatsoever. I'll wait.

Perhaps you should read them again....

Alphonse Riley-James, 49, has served 30 years of a 50 to life sentence for the 1988 convictions of Murder in the Second Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. At the age of 18, he accompanied a group to Albany as part of a drug deal that ended in the death of two men. While part of the group, Mr. Riley-James was not accused of actually causing the deaths. Mr. Riley-James expresses strong remorse for the loss of life. Mr. Riley-James is a leader within his facility, where he teaches basic legal research, leads a chess club and runs a financial literacy newsletter with his wife. He received his B.A., works as a law library clerk and volunteers in a children's center and as a volunteer adult literacy tutor. Mr. Riley-James has his paralegal certification and plans to work as a paralegal upon release.

Even though not found to be directly causing the deaths, he was CONVICTED of 2nd degree murder for his participation in the event. According to the law, that means he was responsible for their deaths just as if he did it himself.

Care to apologize now to the ATS members in this thread for your incorrect statement?

Chad is playing semantics. "No murderers were pardoned" is technically correct. They were granted clemency.

The murderers didn't get a pardon and weren't immigrants... they were born in the US.

That doesn't mean that people who thought they were immigrants are xenophobic. That entire line of reasoning is bs. They were mistaken, that's all.

This whole thread people were focusing on the immigrants, calling then illegals, and should have been deported etc etc. and pretty much completely ignoring the fact that far more serious offenders got either pardons or early release, but hey they were citizens born here. That's why.

And none of that shows they're xenophobic. They were just wrong. If the piece was accurate, their sentiments are totally understandable. Sorry about your narrative. It's as false as the one in the story, just from the other side.

The pardons targeted those who had committed low-level offenses and had demonstrated significant rehabilitation since their convictions, Alphonso David, the governor’s chief counsel, said in an interview.

And the right doesn't care about details that define a story as different from the way they choose to interpret it. Typical.
