Beto is not a self-made man. What has he acccomplished other than an ability to attract a wealthy wife?

The media has been protective of Beto but that may be starting to change.

No sin in marrying well. Just don't try to hide that little tidbit behind alot of lefty talk and pretend to be a little guy.

Answer: In addition to STILL losing to Ted Cruz...even after recieving tens of millions from Soros & Friends...HE HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The Left just likes his first name.

Is there any politician at the federal level who isn't at least a millionaire? The average blue collar guy on the street could never run for office because he lacks the money, influence and support from corporations and super PAC's. How can any
elected official relate to the struggles of the majority of Americans when their salaries are well above many Americans. Americans could only dream of having their outstanding benefits and pensions!

How Much Do Congressmen Make Before Retirement? Most senators and representatives make an annual salary of $174,000. Those in leadership make a bit more. For example, the speaker of the House makes $223,500 and majority and minority leaders in the House and Senate make $193,400. Congressmen earn this annual salary for the duration of their terms. Senators serve six-year terms, while members of the House serve for two years. There are no term limits. Members also get allowances to pay their staff and cover office and travel expenses. Senators’ average allowance is $3,306,570, while representatives’ is typically $900,000. Congressmen are also able to deduct $3,000 a year for the living expenses they accrue while they’re away from their home states or congressional districts.

What Are Congressional Pensions Like? Congressmen don’t reap their annual salary for life. They do receive generous retirement benefits though. The Atlantic estimated that when former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) retired he received an $86,000 annual pension.

They're all rich and well-to-do. Many of them make millions more once they're in office. What's sad is voters defend them and actually think these career politicians have their interest at heart.

Combine with that the fact that O'Rourke's own net worth is somewhere around $10 Million (double Ted Cruz's) and yeah... lot of gullible or blind folks in Texas these days.

Probably because Forbes claims that such a notion isn't very likely.

Still, 500 million ain't bad, but their estimate is a looooooong way off from 20 billion.

There's a difference between managing a 20 billion portfolio, and actually owning a 20 billion portfolio. He had many partners & investors.
