Probably just testing the flight system which shows pilots the drones beacon location in the air.

Bet it's on a Cessna, or similar.

Great idea though.

A soft bird will almost take the wing off a plane, I'd hate to hit a 20 lb drone at 200mph.

Good point.
Both Drone and plane are gone now.

Certainly raising questions about Gatwick Airport in London πŸ€”

Who knows, but I'm certain it was that RV-8.

The pilot said to himself.... you know? Let's mess with bigburgh's head.

Edit: Zaphod is shaking his head at me right now... I can sense it.😌

Some moron programmed their Transponder with that info, if you do an N# search on the FAA website you can’t see info since the Government is shut down. You can program what ever info until the 2020 mandate.

Did anyone report this to the FAA annd DEA?

Drone piggy backing on small jets for drug transport has been kicked around for a while.

Plane gets cleared from a normal airport, normal flight plan, everything's cool, drone meets up with plane at pre designated rendezvous point, hooks up or latches on.

Plane approaches landing, drone flies off of the plane with the drug cargo, you just got drugs over 9 states with no personal risk.

Excellent question.
Well I for one did not. The thought never even entered my mind, however it was documented here and the umpthhh 80 or so screen captures I just did.

Can the Feds Seize an ATS Thread?

They have from Orange County Airport to Provo or Salt lake city Utah to investigate now.

Then how did I just pull the registration up on the FAA database?

Forgot...
The drone maintained 11k feet the entirety of the flight however...
But the RV-8 was not transponding, separated from drone by 20 miles or side by side with the drone.

My Mavic 2 Pro weighs maybe around 3 pounds (small goose, still. a big splat).

Where? I don't see a Mavic 2 anywhere. Just a table and some archaic mouse.

ROFL
The mouse is a USAF RPA version. Except that I upgraded to Blue (pun?).

Standard issue Corded red ball version, at Randolph AFB (below pilots right hand).

from activity log u supplied link I found the name of the operator then with quick Google search I found home address the is tied to a vanity plate approval site supplied by the fcc? maybe I'm not informed about vanity plates but I didn't think fcc was involved or I'm mistaken for type of vanity plate and it's for a podcast or radio show or something. idk but that activity log says drone flew from Cali to Hawaii.. strange stuff

the address tried to the name from flightaware archive is in upstate New York. why so many flights out of california?

I’m guessing that it’s on an airplane. A good racing drone is difficult to get over 100mph.
