Do you think this is the only two persons doing such nonsense? There is lots of violence out in the world.

The whole story isn't shown. Now you just assume a lot. Just because a man was fired doesn't mean it fits some PC correct view you have.

Maybe the video man is owner's son. Could be they are both full of it. But obviously it's all on one man.

Employee acts like an idiot on video.
Employee gets fired and employer apologizes for his actions.
What more do we need to know?

I would pay money to listen to little clerk-boy explain his side of the story!

You would?

Yeah I suppose I toss a few bucks to jobless people from time to time as well, I just usually don't care about their sob story sorry.

Why do you think I am defending the employee? I am not. See that is where your guess about things is wrong. You opinion may not always be right.

They are probably both crappy people.

Why do you assume something without knowing the whole story?

I see two things wrong here.

First is this individual not adhering to the employee that has every right to refuse service.

Second is that employee losing his #....

So to put this bluntly the dude making and recording the video is in the wrong.
Any questions?

So it's acceptable to refuse service because of political views?

Well I guess any baker that doesn't want to make a cake can use the "I don't agree with their politics" defense right?

And I'm sure you will be here defending their stance. Right?

Why does it seem like something is missing from this video?

He didn't just go off to this degree because the guy was wearing a Trump shirt, surely something happened before he started filming.

Where have you been the last 2 years?

That's all it takes for the leftist morons to spazz out, sometimes even less. That's what happens when you are a brainwashed idiot.

He has the right to refuse service to anyone, unless protected... BUT this doesn't preclude a court from finding other arbitrary refusals of service to be discriminatory. Refusal based on a tee shirt with the President's name most likely fits this.

On the other hand the dipsh@t counter worker should have just ignored him and served the other guy.

It is the store policy to back the employee even when wrong.
If wrong then they get booted. Simple as that no questions asked. I've had to do so many times and any person with experience of this will back me up.
I am sure the MAGA hat and Trump shirt had nothing to do with this encounter. Something else transpired before he started recording.
Now again want to ask some questions?

Did you watch the video?
When the little bitch calls his boss or whoever, he specifically says he is not serving anyone that wears treasonous Trump stuff. LOL
He never says anything about something else sending him over the deep end.

So what???

It is a right they have. Are you a fan of having the gubment take that away? Or do you like your freedoms?

So what, you say?
I am merely pointing out that the little bastard is refusing service based solely on the guy wearing Trump stuff.
You are saying that something else caused it, but in the video he clearly says that he is not serving anyone that supports Trump.
If the Trump guy did something else, say like he walked in and said “Hey black dude....get to the back of the line” or some crazy racist thing like that, it would be justified for the little man-child to throw his hissy fit and refuse to serve him while calling him racist.
I don’t give a rat’s ass what the stores policy is, he is refusing service based on Big, Racist Trump ONLY.

You have no idea what caused this encounter and the same can be said with me.
I want to clear that I am not supporting the employee or the maker of the video. I am only supporting freedom.
If some place doesn't want to sell me an item for whatever reason I will take my money elsewhere.

Except we DO know what was behind it. The employee clearly stated that he wasn't serving a Trump supporter.

Just stop, you are making yourself like dumber by the post.

As I said, this is not just an automatic firing for me, but likely a police escort off the premises, banning from the premises, and blackballing. Why is irrelevant; there can be no excuse whatsoever for his actions. This simply does not happen if I am running the show. It's over the top and completely uncalled for. If the clerk cannot hold himself together when he is not being physically attacked, he does not need to be there... he will not be there... PERIOD.

TheRedneck

I agree but what do you expect for 10 bucks an hour.

I think there can be room for "both."

I think that if this employee was being asked to.. prepare red, white, and blue ejuice for a Trump event, that he should have been able to deny service without retribution.

Maybe its too subtle of a point to be meaningful, but in a direct comparison to the "bakers dilemma," it'd be like the bakers refusing service the moment a gay couple walked in regardless of anything else.

In this case, we are dealing with an employee who doesn't set policy, and an employee that clearly lost it completely too. That behavior is grounds alone for termination, in my opinion.

Basically though, I think there is a balance here between the right to refuse service and public accommodation and that it isn't as cut and dry as it might seem. I think one can rationally support someone like the bakers, as long as they only refuse service in situations that would require them to "participate" in something that goes against their beliefs.

Is it too subtle of a difference to matter in our general social contract though? Maybe..

This is what happens when you raise a generation of people who are functionally illiterate. IE they don't read books, don't know history, don't know how to think critically, and simply get all their information from social media and the internet. We are really in trouble, and I am talking about BOTH individuals, they both share some fault. We are losing the ability to have civil discourse and that should scare the hell out of everyone.

Yup.

The employees behavior alone was unacceptable even for a five year old, much less an "adult." It doesn't matter to me what it was all about either, he could have been lamenting his favorite TV show being canceled. Still completely bizarre and problematic behavior for anyone of any age.

I don't really view such videos with humor either, I find it pretty damn disturbing!
