In my experience most of the time management will not back up employees. Management worries first about covering their own backs.

That’s the flip side that can be unbearable for an employee taking real abuse from customers. Some managers do clearly see what employee abuse is, and will act on it, but this was definitely a case of customer abuse by an employee over a tshirt.

Happy to read he had his ass fired.

What do you think your boss would say if you refused to do your job ( whatever that may be) because of someone’s politics ?

I really don't understand why I am being attacked here???
Are we fighting for freedom or against?

You're not being attacked. You're just being schooled.

I think you should sit in the corner for a while and stop trying to do damage control. You don't need more holes to dig for yourself.

Now go do my bidding or I'll call corporate on your ass! LOL.

I kid, I kid. But seriously. Learn some things and get better.

I will only go sit in the corner if I get a safe space bubble to cry in damnit!(HALO 2 shall be present)
BTW I have my own poops to manage and I think ill do thing my way!

I could see it more as freedom if the ranter actually owned the store. But that isn’t the case, so he has no right to turn customers away from the corporation , based on his personal political views.

Let's say he was the owner:

It's still reeeeeeeally dumb to turn away a potential customer

Most good business owners understand that negative word-of-mouth and alienating customers is bad for business

I totally agree NB, but it is still important that they have a choice.

Agreed. I support the right to refuse a customer. But in this case he was representing someone else's business. His personal interests were in conflict with the owner's business model.

Oh well I'm sure someone will set up a gofundyourself page for this whiny brat and he'll be an overnight millionaire. Isn't that how things are handled these days?

So is hiring employees that you will not back....Back door payments mitigate that problem.

I agree with you. Absolutely. Bad decision but freedom to do whatever you please with your business. Free markets decide this. Even if society boycotts you and make you bankrupt. That's a FREE society.

That's TRUE libertarianism. Some people *claim to be libertarians. *ahem*. But that doesn't mean allowing your *employees* to dictate who is allowed to shop in your store. That's insane.

Anyway. Carry on.

😆... you are so right about that, and it wouldn’t surprise me a bit that he has a bunch of whiney celebrities forking out the cash. They’ll make him think he’s a hero, and he’s probably strutting around like he’s king of the libs, as we speak.

It’s actually not funny. It’s depressing.🙁

You're both right. Great discussion, but too many people want to toss out basic common sense and instead pretend to try and represent some invisible cause that doesn't exist. Especially these days.

What's to back up? There's a video of a clerk overreacting with a customer when he could have just made a sale and a potential lifelong customer. I would have sent him straight to the bread line as well.
