Weird Christmas Eve... Strange phone call

I have all the Christmas shopping done and thought I might get to relax for a bit.
Then I get a text on my cell phone asking me to call ‘Ken’.
I didn’t reply as I don’t recognize the phone number.
Then I get this text from the same number...
“Please call me or I am stopping by. Thanks, Ken.”
I then replied that the text sounded threatening.
He responded that he ‘just wanted to hang out’.

I said that I didn’t know him. He claimed that I do know him, and asks me to answer his call, after which the phone immediately rings.

He says that he found my number on his wife’s phone and he has suspected that she was cheating on him.
He sent me photos of her sleeping and asked if I knew her. (I don’t know her)
I assured him that I have not talked to her and do not know her.

Then for the kicker, he asks me if I am a Freemason!
I told him that I am no longer active, but that he is correct in his assumption. He said that he could tell by hearing me talk that I was a Freemason and that he was also a Freemason.

WTF?

I dropped no hints (that I am aware of) that I was a Mason.
Why is my number on his wife’s phone?

Weird!!!! It has to be some kind of new scam though. Wonder what they get from people who fall for it? Creepy.

I agree. Sounds like a scam. Maybe you should contact the cops, ask if they've heard of anything like this.

He just offered to meet me at a Masonic Lodge, I told him that I wasn’t active and hadn’t paid dues in years. He said the brothers could help me out with that.
I am skeptical.

I have my piece ready, but my dog is not a threat. He has bad breath... and that is all that he presents for danger.

Normally, I would have my shoes off right now... but I have them on right now and I am a bit on edge.
I would rather be reading this as an observer, rather than living it.

Sounds like a phising expedition and the Masons was a lucky hit. Get rid of this guy pronto.

I can believe that. The guy sounded old. Much older that the woman in the photos that he claims is his wife.

I did try tineye to see if it was a photo pulled from the web. No hits. I will look for a facial recognition site to try.

Nothing even close on Google Face. More than half the hits were images of men. She is a fairly homely woman.
