There is no way Cocaine Mitch would resurface and do this ...

I have to be misreading that situation, but if they wait until January when the new Senate is put in, could they basically use the same gimmick the democrats used to pass the ACA? They have the original Senate bill, but it won't pass the House. They have the House bill with the wall funding.

Could they strip the language out of the old Senate bill and use reconciliation to put the House bill in it and send it on to be signed? Or however that was done?

And never got the chance.
The chance to not sign?

Maybe you should be angry with the House?
For caving into the president? Ok. But not really surprising.

Way too much effort.

This strat is much easier; "We have to pass it to see what's in it."

No. He threw the ball. Low and to the right.

Well, if he's not in the Senate. maybe he's in the House?

TheRedneck

You're doing a nice tap dance around the meat of the matter.

Which is something being crammed into a bill that everybody knew would never pass already, because Trump demanded it. Despite knowing full well it'd never pass.

It's a nice song and dance, but it's akin trying to bake something in a broken oven, despite knowing it's irreparably broke and never going to turn on. Then having a cow and blaming everybody else around you for it not working. You knew it wasn't going to work, why did you bother?

Schumer cannot cause a bill to pass or fail. Nor can he call for a vote.

Why would he say that then?

This is true. He does bluster. He blustered before the nation saying that he would be proud to shut down the government if the CR did not fund his wall. Silly I suppose, to believe what the president says to the nation as whole.

I don't think he blustered. I think he was using leverage, but if hasn't vetoed a bill that has not been put through the house and senate, then it cannot be his fault. He has to veto it before he can claim it.

Duh, yes. how can he veto something that never made it to him?

For caving into the president? Ok.

Well, at least you're pointed in the right general direction now. Although I wasn't aware the President was also Speaker.

Yeah. The House fell on that sword for him. Why not? It's a lame duck House.
Still, he took the mantle. Until he says, "No, wasn't me! This is not the buck you seek."

Genius political move. Make the House and Senate work together.

The oven would be the legislative Branch. Trump tried to explain it to Pelosi during the press conference, but I think she forgot to take her Meds that day.

How's that "working together" going?

Some genius political move.

So I don't get it;

If the government has no problem spending billions on figet spinners ...

freebeacon.com...

... why can't they just give Trump a few billion just to make him go away while they do important things like pass a continuing resolution?

Billions does not start with the letter "m".

My amigos in gov want 10 days off, with reimbursement after that holiday vacation. McConnell assured them today that they'd get it. Lot of happy Federal Workers tonight!

The only thing they fear now is when people realize many government "workers" are not as "essential" as we are led to believe !!

The exposure will do some good like last time.

I'm sure they have their "sick" and "vacation" time already applied for and approved.

🚬💨👀

They won't need to take sick or vacation time. Whether the shut-down lasts 5 days or 50 days, they'll all get back pay. And you're right....97% of the population will not realize that the government is shut down.

Pelosi didn't seem to understand what Trump was talking to her about, when he said he could get it through the House in 2 seconds. Take a look on Schumer's face when Trump says he would take the Blame. His eyes lite up like a kids on Christmas morning. He was under the impression also that he could shut down the government because he thought that meant only Trump would get the blame. lol. Come on really?

You know why. Because it's Trump. They hate him. They would rather not get anything done than to give him another reason to brag. And he is good at bragging.
