The age is assumed. It has not been verified. All it takes is a passer by that drops a chicken bone 1500 years ago. We find that bone now, does it mean the site is that old? Or does it mean that's how old that object that was found is??

There’s this magical thing called stratification.

There is nothing "magical" about it whatsoever because it can be totally misleading. Stratification is unreliable because it assumes the stones were excavated and erected at the time the organic material was dropped (or whatever). It ignores the real possibility (particularly in South America where the stones of megalthic ruins were so often recycled) that megalithic stones could have been lying around long before the carbon-dated material was found and were re-erected in areas where new settlers had meals, etc. The fact that the organic detritus was at the same layer of soil as the insertion point of huge stones means absolutely nothing as it ignores the possibility that the stones were lying around, left by a more ancient culture, before being re-erected at the time of a new settlement. But of course it is a convenient assumption for archaeologists to make because it makes life simple for them. That's why there are so many mysteries. Their naive assumptions are so often inconsistent with all kinds of data that they ignore because that data contradicts their measurements.

Thank you micpsi for the informative reply. I'm a firm believer that it is just that. These older structures from a more ancient time, were stumbled upon and recycled by more recent groups.

This would debunk the stratification claim, as it cannot be proven now that they are sitting in their original location. Considering Puma Punku is littered around as if a bomb went off. It quite obvious, that the current stones resting places, are not where they were originally. So why even make a claim regarding stratification?? Unless its as you stated above

Neato, looks like a minecraft auto-farm.

How old is this temple again?

Dates to around 500 AD.

Harte

Yes. And 1000 years after a nuclear war in 2020 almost wiped out humanity, archaeologists carbon-date a bacon sandwich dropped by a visitor at Stonehenge in 2019 and concluded that the stones were 1000 years old. Very reliable.....

So, they find a thousand year old bacon sandwich, date it to a thousand years old, and that's somehow "unreliable?"

That's some argument you got there.

Harte

You misunderstood (sigh!). Let me repeat the argument that debunks how archaeologists wrongly extrapolate the ages of things. They don't just state their carbon-14 readings and leave it at that. They then go on to claim that the stones themselves were cut and erected at the time their instruments indicate the organic material appeared. This is plain stupid and an unscientific deduction. Stonehenge was built thousands of years before visitors dropped bacon sandwiches nearby.
Get it now? Or do you still want to pretend to misunderstand me because you have no answer to my criticism?

How many bacon sandwiches were dropped underneath the stones at Stonehenge by visitors?
But you're right about archaeological dating. No sites are ever dated by C14 alone. If only C14 dates are available, then the dating is assumed. Other dating techniques must be used, and they must correlate well with the C14 dates, or non-correlations explained.
So, will you now assert that no other methods have been used at Tiwanaku?

And how do you get around the samples taken from beneath stones there?

The megalithic sites: Macchu Picchu, Easter Island, Tiwanaku, AE and pretender sites with all inca-like lesser techniques. Megalithic builders display finenesses and polished finish in the construction and precision of the worked multi ton granite pieces.

Tiwanaku's Akapana pyramid is built with smooth 10 ton blocks where the big ones weigh much more. Their fit is three dimensional as the wall in Macchu Picchu that was hit by an earthquake and the inside is
exposed.

Gobekli Teppe is primitive with their contemporaries the megalithic builder societies.
As Plato documented Atlantis we try to complete the story. History can be subjective. Our time is a fleeting instant in the scheme of things so it can be extinction events in our relatively recent history have occurred.

The pyramid was first opened and looted then they released photographs of the pyramid as they excavated it.
