1960s Postcards In Real Life Then VS Now Not long ago an old matchbook laying on photographer Pablo Iglesias Maurer's desk caught his eye. Or rather, it was the postcard-like picture on it, of a resort complex built in the 1960s. It got Pablo wondering how the place looked now, and the answer has led him to make an amazing photo series called Abandoned States. The picture came with the title How to Run A Successful Golf Course, but when Maurer got to the place, it was clear the owner of Penn Hills Resort didn't follow that advice. He pointed the camera at the decaying building at roughly the same spot and did a '5-decades-after' shot of the place. Ever since then, Pablo was hooked. He ordered more 60s postcards from eBay and started going around the country capturing these once beautiful buildings that now stand abandoned only as faint memories of what once was. "The postcards, have their own haze—the places were never as nice as they look. I often struggle to get the two images to line up, as well. But time blurs the difference, and brings everything into focus." Please give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and also share it with your friends.

When I was a kid we got postcards whenever someone we knew went on a trip. I looked forward to them.
My dad used to have to travel to Israel and Turkey and I had postcards from there too. I wish I had been better at keeping them.

The weather is here.... wish you were beautiful... LOL.

Some very nice architecture! Can anyone confirm if that cylindrical dwelling with square interior @3:19 is a Guggenheim design?

That was so sad. I love indoor swimming pools.

As far as movies go, not sure if it reminds me more of the forgotten romance of Dirty Dancing, or the creeping horror of The Shining.

The one beach scene wasn't really a fair comparison since one pic was taken in Summer and the other taken in Winter.

I get it though. I sped the video up with shift + > as it moved a tad bit slow for my liking.

I've seen on several occasions that someone runs a thriving business, then dies and no one takes over and carries it on.
The business dies with the owner who's dream it was to keep it alive.
