The US House of Representatives has approved $5.7bn in funding for a border wall after President Trump rejected a budget without it. The Senate is unlikely to pass the new bill, raising fears of a partial government shutdown.
Schumer said, “President Trump should understand there are not the votes for the wall in the House or the Senate. He is not going to get the wall in any form. Even the House which is a majority Republican, they don’t have the votes for his $5 billion wall plan.
Eight Republicans joined all 177 voting Democrats to oppose the measure, which passed 217-185. The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is certain to fall short of the 60 votes needed for passage since the chamber's 49 Democrats are against funding the wall. That, in turn, makes it more likely that parts of the federal government, including nine of 15 Cabinet-level departments and dozens of agencies, will cease operations at midnight Friday.
The vote came hours after Trump told House GOP leaders that he would not enact a Senate-passed package that does not provide money for the barrier.

Schumer was wrong about the House.
He may be wrong about the Senate, as well.

The Senate late Wednesday approved a stopgap spending measure that will keep the government open until February without President Trump's requested $5 billion for a border wall. Mr. Trump has recently said he would be "proud" to shut down the government to get funding for the border wall.
The spending measure now goes to the House of Representatives, and it has to be signed by Mr. Trump.

Is this the bill that contains relief funds for people in communities that experienced natural disasters in 2018?
