I identified the drone as DJI Mavic.
The battery life is around 22-25 minutes and can travel 5-7 km depending on the topography.
The culprits must have an in-car charger or good stack of batteries.

This has supposedly been seen for 14 hours, they're claiming some kind of modification to explain that, is this possible?

Where have you seen a pic or footage? None of our news channels are showing any or any pics and none I have found online

I believe that a link has already been posted showing the daylight video footage. Someone has uploaded it on You Tube with the sound removed.

The Army had deployed the recently bought Israeli built Rafael Drone Dome at Gatwick. They were originally bought to counter ISIS drones during operations in Syria.

Not really..
When you have fools out there that take part in Swatting someone nothing should surprise anyone.
If its dumb and it can be dumb someone out there will say "watch this" and do it.

Some further details released of those arrested.

Sussex Police said today: "A 47-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, both from Crawley, were arrested in the town on suspicion of disrupting services of civil aviation aerodrome to endanger or likely to endanger safety of operations or persons. "They remained in custody at 11am on Saturday."

The couple arrested on suspicion of the Gatwick drone attack are a husband and wife from Crawley, the Telegraph can reveal. Paul Gait, 47, and his wife Elaine Kirk, 54, were detained by police at their detached home in West Sussex at around 10pm on Friday night. Father of two, Mr Gait, who works as a window fitter, is understood to be a drone enthusiast who also flew remote control helicopters.

As is customary for anything like this, trial by social media already has these people sentenced to death. The police themselves have not released the names of the people they have arrested, this 'information' was leaked to the press so take it with a pinch of salt for now.Don't forget that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
Also there is no way the people shown are anywhere near the claimed ages of 47 and 54
.

But his boss insisted he had been working when the drone attacks were taking place and said he would be shocked if he had anything to do with the incident.

The plot, as so often is the case, thickens.

In response to ages, the guy pictured is easily 47. And I've seen a 60 year old that would pass as a 40 year old before, she could be 52, maybe

The guy is a window fitter. If he is out on a job then the boss assumes that he is working. Also consider that his wife is involved in the drone flying.

Yes they are. Nothing remarkable about people looking younger than they actually are.

Paul Gait's Father has also spoken to the press.

.... he told us that his son joined the Army straight from school. A gunner in the Royal Artillery, he did two tours of Northern Ireland and a stint in Bosnia during the war in the early 1990s.

So that would make him born in 1971. If he joined the Army at 18 then that would make him joining in 1989. That would fit in with his service in Bosnia during early 1990s.

It's just my opinion that they don't look 47 and 54.Anyway,they have now been released without charge and are no longer suspects in this investigation......

www.bbc.co.uk...

In other news,I drove past Gatwick today and it's still at full alert with a Policeman standing in every field around the airport.

www.bbc.co.uk...

Now the British press who thought it OK to release their identities before they were charged with anything have to roll back their indignation and clean the egg from their faces.

Crap way to start your Christmas for the innocent couple.

A damaged drone has been found at Gatwick

Damaged drone found at Gatwick Airport as bosses offer £50,000 reward Sussex Police Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Tingley said in an interview on Sky News: "I can say yesterday we recovered a damaged drone close to the perimeter of Gatwick Airport... and we will be doing everything we can with regards to progressing a forensic examination of that drone.
