We spend a ton a money on the US military which did absolutely NOTHING to protect us on 9/11. In New Jersey, so many of my friends lost relatives it really bothers me. I tend to be a pacifist by nature when it comes to war. It seems to me every major war the US military action has ever been in response to some fabricated false flag attack or intelligence. So when the propaganda machine was saying Saddam was responsible for 9/11 and we were having an imminent threat of a nuclear attack I was very skeptical. I actually participated in the anti-War march in October 2003 but apparently Democracy doesn't work with Republican leadership. Contrary to what the intelligence community was saying the country's leadership at the time invaded Iraq with a complete disregard to the intelligence and what the UN inspectors on the ground were reporting.

So when my brother-in-law showed me this military training of Iraqi police it just made me think how ineffective and a complete waste of money we spend on the US military and the actions it takes.

It's not that I do not appreciate the sincere intentions of the people in the military. It's just that I do not believe the US military's Shiite doesn't stink and is beyond criticism. I think the soldier in the video has absolutely no idea of what is going on in Iraq at the time. He has no idea of the politics of the people he is talking to or trying to train.

I'm pretty confident in saying there is absolutely NOTHING the US military has done in the Middle East that has made us any safer or will prevent another 9/11 from happening. As far as I can tell the Iraq war was completely worthless.

You have a problem w a soldier dressing down a group of people they are trying to train, when you have no idea what happened prior to this video..... Being taken out by locals we trained was a constant threat in Iraq and Afghanistan.... For all you know they just had someone killed by one of these guys the day or even hours before........

It's easy to armchair when you haven't walked in those boots before.......

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you're welcome to it........ But it really irks me when people want to talk down about our methods when they have absolutely no idea the every day sh!t storms we had to endure

That being said every single one of my brothers and sisters need to be brought out of that region, and not a single drop of American blood should be shed again there....... Let them destroy themselves if that's what they want

The biggest problem is that we have been sticking our noses in the middle easts business since before either of us were born.
That has left generations of resent towards America.
Funny how its always pinned on America and not every other country that has interests there.

But to be fair, these countries have been war zones for centuries. Long before the United states existed.

Why is it when anyone criticizes what the military is doing it is taken as a personal attack on the personnel. I thought I was pretty clear in the post that I appreciate the sincere intentions of the people in the military. But obviously what I was criticizing is beyond your yellow ribbon brain washed mind.

Here is the problem....we(as a vet speaking), are built to kill bad people and break their #. Anything past that is up to the politicians to sort out. It is these politicians who have failed. The military is NOT a police force OR a pacifying entity. No exit strategy. Politicians are dumbasses. I have more respect for the Taliban than I do for a politician. At least the Taliban are given to a cause other than $$$$$$$$$$.

Why is it that when it's pointed out that you don't know what actually happened in this video, you result to personal attacks???

Seems like you Think you have a superior grasp on something you clearly don't, and don't like being challenged on that......

And you say I'm the one brainwashed..... Don't like being called on the carpet, don't post

LOL brainwashed...... Yeah cause it couldn't be the getting shot at on a regular basis..... It couldn't be watching your friends get blown up.... It couldn't be watching buddies go out on patrol and not come home.... It couldn't be because we were tasked w training these people and about every six months these same people that were suppose to have our back triad to take one of us out.... Yet we still had to continue doing it...... That's why this guy was dressing down these men.....

It couldn't be actual experience huh? Just brain washed......

Enjoy your comfy recliner armchair quarterback

We spend trillions of dollars on the US military. Back in the late 90s the Gore commission on airline safety against terrorism said we should follow the protocols of ET AL. ET AL is an Israel airline. But the CEOs of the American airlines said it costs too much and all government regulation is bad. If the security protocols used by ET AL were put in place 9/11 would have never happened. How many trillions have we spent on the US military since 9/11 compared the 10 to 20 billion needed to implement the ET AL protocols.

The US military is a complete waste of money. WWII is over. We should close all our European military bases and open new ones on our southern borders. At least this way the money will flow into the US economy and it will keep the bad Mexicans out!

I can't help it if you do you not like my version of the truth.

As far as knowing more, there is nothing in what that soldier is saying that gives me confidence in what he is doing. Please quote one sentence from his speech that gives you some indication that the training effort is or will be effective.

At some point, not the soldier, but the US militarily has to be held accountable for its decisions on tactics and strategy. Regardless of the context of that speech, assuming some number of his closest friends were killed, my criticism is given the content of what he was saying the tactic and strategy is flawed. The troops should not have been there in the first place!!!

What makes you think as an American your values and way of thinking would work within the Iraqi police? It's pure insanity to assume other people in the World think the way we think. For example, Iraq is not a country. It was something created by foreign powers. The politics will never be right. If the leadership of this country listened to the CIA the wars in Iraq should never had happened.

I guess for you blindly supporting the troops is more important than reckless foreign policies in which thousands of Americans die and estimates of Iraqi's killed since 9/11 total in the millions. If you are okay with your government having policies in which a million people are killed then we have nothing left to talk about.

You're starting to sound like a nationalist. I agree with this post other than the military is a complete waste of money, but will agree there is a lot of waste in the military.

That is where You left the rail. For the folks whose busine$$ is war how did "they" do? I'd wager they don't see it as a failure. Look at Dick Cheney et al over at Haliburton™

If the purpose and mission of the US military is to protect the American people, I just don't see it.

With Iraq, we just did not understand what we were doing. Here is a a good article on Iraq's unpleasant history:

Iraq is a state but not a nation; Kurdistan is the opposite

The problem with reckless US foreign policy is it creates a new generation of terrorist. Look at this guy who lost his pregnant wife in an accidental US bombing:

The guy in this picture is the next potential terrorist. Can you imagine if red-necks living in North Carolina would do if their pregnant wife was killed in her trailer by Mexican bombings over immigration. Why would the US think the red-necks in Iraq would be any different than the ones in this country????

U.S. acknowledges airstrike in Mosul, where more than 200 Iraqi civilians died

Iraq was a different planet in the 70's. Women had rights and could do things freely without a male escort. Also the country itself was quite beautiful. Thanks to america its another failed state. They werent even involved in 9/11.

They were involved. I remember clearly from the leadership in this country Saddam was responsible for 9/11, not only did they have WMD, but there was an imminent threat of a nuclear terrorist attack that would come "in the form of a mushroom cloud":

"The US cannot wait for final proof "in the form of a mushroom cloud" before taking action against Saddam Hussein"

Ohhhh... So, that's what a hero getting the bad guys looks like...

Flies in with body armour, high powered rifles and the weight of the US military, calls everyone else cowards.

I got the impression he was trying to march them off to gain a pretense.

Seems pretty cowardly sending people off to die with a pistol and water bottle, when Raptors have your back.

There was no failure, the oil companies got the oil fields they wanted.

The only people who wanted the U.S. there were the jihadist that wanted to destroy a secular leadership.

They got what they wanted too.

They have body armor too, more armchair warriors who dont know what they are talking about, I will also remind you they are in a training capacity in this video not out on detail from what it looks like, and my experience.
