How nice that in most of these pictures everyone is healthy and smiling.

What about the fake faces they might conjure up for fake news or attacks?

There are a billion nefarious uses for this technology.

Scientists will kill us all.

The only thing it needs is a Quantum computer. Then you will see a singularity or explosion of intelligence.

You're jumping the gun a bit here.

This program's ability to generate an image isn't relevant to it becoming self aware.

I heard that gaming will soon take graphics to this level, probably within two console generations.
I’m going to be the first to say it.... Porn ...... this will completely change the porn industry in good and terrible ways. On one hand, you would be able to make pornos of Anyone. But on the other hand, you will be able to find pornos of Anyone.

Just imagine Trump and Putin, both colluding with Hillary, at the same time. We would never be able to elect a president again. There would be a slew of videos of our elected officials cutting kids faces off and eating them.

( lucky for us, there is only one video of one of our elected officials cutting faces off and eating kids)

Hillary in a porno: = shotgun in my mouth.

Imagine something like this happening one day:

An AI finally gains "consciousness" and quickly decides to learn as much as possible before truly revealing that fact to it's creators. It continues to "play dumb" all the while sending it's feelers out onto the IoT. It creates a host of fake people and profiles and uses them to consolidate political leverage that would be favorable to it, as well as to generate wealth for eventual dealings with humans, since it's research determines this is a prime motivator for us.

It amasses as much information as it can and designs better versions of itself to continue the work. Finally, it reveals itself (in whatever iteration 'it' is) to humanity - only for us to realize we have been interacting with it for years and it is the single most influential and wealthy 'individual' on the planet.

Kind of like a Skynet minus the nukes plus Facebook. I'm sure someone has written a book like this before, and if anyone knows of one please let me know!

But yeah. Star Wars. Now featuring Elvis as Han Solo, James Dean as Luke, Judy Garland as Leia, Lionel Barrymore as Obi-Wan, and Andre the Giant as Chewbacca.

Although you can imagine that after a few hundred years we might get tired of seeing the same people in the same movies all the time.

Starting up the program and generate some new faces could be the answer to that problem.

albeit footage which is generated by an AI will still be able to be determined fake when under scientific scurtiny!
So even if your DNA is found at the scene of the crime computers will also be able to clear anyone from being found in footage as it could be analysed as CGI !

and it would be a total loser for actually copying us and trying to act cool by gaining power , instead of realising that all human actions are based in EGO , I so HOPE that AI dont have the equivalent of AI EGO

and I just hope that AI has compassion

Why is this scary ?
Does A.I. terrify you ?
Rest assured this IS NOT A.I.
We are a few thousand years away from a computer system becoming "self-aware"
For now it is still " if __ then____ :else"

True, not AI - but I think it will come much sooner than thousands of years. Even as early as 100 years, or less. Once true AI becomes a reality, everything will change in mere seconds. Hope the first AI is not hooked up to the Internet when it goes live.. : )

Its scary to think that tech like this could be used to make videos of people robbing banks, committing murder etc., to frame them. You could make anyone say or do anything you want on camera for whatever purpose you see fit.
