Why don't you just call your friend and ask him why he logged off?
1 - He had something better to do
2 - His computer crashed
3 - He's a government op involved in non existant chemtrail experiments, and now seeing that you are closing in on him, logged off and is on his way
to arrest you.
My guess is option 1 or 2
