In Ghana they just pulled down a statue of the racist Gandhi. In the country of Malawi, they are also fighting to stop a Gandhi statue being constructed. In America there are many Gandhi statues. Ironically, there is a Gandhi statue at the MLK historical site in Atlanta.

SJWs won’t be happy until there is zero history left...and then they’ll wonder why there are problems (those that don’t study history are doomed to repeat it, and all that).

Seems people think folks can’t do any good in the world if they were misguided at some point in their lives. And a lot of times, the “misguided” conduct wasn’t even seen as such when it was happening...by ANYBODY.

Before you know it, some Neanderthal from 45k years ago is going to be found out having killed a saber tooth and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will sue!

Being racist is not a ‘crime’.

People are claiming he was a racist because he most definitely 100% viewed African blacks as lower caste peoples than the Indian migrants in South Africa . He openly stated that throughout his lifetime, it’s no secret.

The campaign against the statue is based on comments made by Gandhi during the two decades he lived in South Africa in the early 1900s. He advocated for improved rights for Indians in South Africa but not for the majority black population who he referred to as “kaffirs”, a derogatory term used in South Africa to refer to black people, similar to the n-word in the United States.

He wasn't PC.

That is now a crime, if you haven't looked around at Earth the last 20 years.

To the OP, I'm not surprised.

History, after all, needs to be erased.

Social programming is a type of public relations that sways large groups to accept, deny, support, resist, or anything in between.
Masses can be controlled and manipulated without being aware of it.

One person alone they say he's...insane.
Mass groups.... shifts public perception and promote specific behaviors.

The fact of white supremacy and oppressive racism was so deep back then that Gandhi, indeed not even Jesus Christ, might have not been able to overcome such massive overt and covert brainwashing of white superiority and black inferiority.

It takes education a kind Gandhi had not yet been exposed to back then for even he while fighting for the liberation of Indians couldn’t empathize with another groups oppression.

It again shows up the evil and pernicious period of racism that pervaded the world for centuries and still does to an extent, though we have made great progress.

And the African people have every right to judge him. It is their country and their institutions.

Notwithstanding Gandhi’s failings at that time and realizing he wasn’t perfect, humanity still can take what he did and be proud and inspired by it, understanding that we are all frail human beings, and can only hope to transcend our frailties and become fully human, one day.

Oh FFS.

He came from a culture with a caste system.

That is racist exactly how?

If you struggled to find the right word, it would be bigoted.

But to some any kind of inequality is "racist" because it is the lowest form of argument so they can understand the concept.

Because then it's just visual so any mental midget can use it in a discussion.

We are fighting so hard to keep the downward spiral going.

/facepalm

I’m just bringing up how we get engulfed in cultural conditioning patterns so easily.

Those times with Gandhi, in the early 20th century, where horrendous, The Africans and Indians were virtual slaves of the white colonialists.

What it shows me is that we all need to get outside of the matrix of cultural conditioning and look at it, at least sometimes.

When oppression and conditioning is so powerful that’s hard to do.

The white power class back then deliberately would pit the slaves against each other and the black, darker Africans, were at the bottom.

Just look and see when each third world country got their freedom from the white colonials, mostly the Africans were the last to go free.

No one is perfect. People will object to anyone, for even the most superficial reasons.

The problem nowadays is that people have lost historical context. They judge the here-and-now through the prism of their own worldview - which may not be fully accurate. Statues, for good or bad, remind of history. Tearing them down at a whim is crass revisionism.

A monument to slavery and incest. You are right, the pyramids should be flattened. I feel offended just thinking about them.
