talk about an unlikely situation. ALL of Europe and Russia to band together? that right there is an interesting pipe dream. for one thing Europe alone
is not as near united as some people think. as it stands the UK wants to leave the EU (and very likely other countries). so what would be in it for
them to join such a cause? seems to me that like in WW2 they would end up on the side of the US which would give the US, yet again a close base to
strike at the rest of Europe from. or do you also include Canada into the European forces? thing is, even IF that were to happen, there would be a
great many Canadians fighting alongside the American forces. unless of course the US did something truly horrific. and Trump is not it, since just
like in the US many Canadians not only support Trump, but want a Canadian version of him to deal with all the harm Trudeau has been doing to the
country. just as Trump is trying to deal with all the harm caused by Obama. which of course would mean that if Canada was involved on the side of
Europe, it would actually pretty much mean a guerrilla war in Canada between US and European supporters. which would make for a very unstable base of
operations for the European forces.
in fact except for the EU which is not much more than a pact of economic convenience all those countries in Europe have been going after their
neighbours for centuries. in fact all the big wars for centuries have mainly been among themselves, that have spread around the world. adding Russia
into the mix, makes the scenario even more unlikely. there are just too many bad memories about the SSSR in Europe. especially countries like Germany
and the UK. remember at the end of both WW1 and WW2 people wanted to continue through Germany to take out Russia/SSSR and their communism. and from
everything i have seen since the breakup of communist Russia/SSSR, most people in Europe have no more love or trust for them since the
communists (with a large amount of help from Germany), took over Russia and all the other countries that they eventually took over. nor would many of
those countries that have broken free from Russia/SSSR (and that includes Germany), would want to enter a major war with them and risk being taken
over again. and in all honesty you would have much the same issues between Germany and everyone else.
but even If somehow Europe/Russia got over all their centuries old mistrusts of each other, just what would they fight with? considering just how much
of currant and recent past reliance ON American forces and equipment for most of Europe for their protection would be a major issue. quite frankly
removal of that American assistance would pretty much cripple them. they would have to do a massive military build up of both equipment and men. and i
don't think with all we hear about finical issues of countries within the EU, that that would happen very easily. plus again like in Canada there
would be a split in support of the US. remember not everyone hates the US. some even remember that it was only with the help of the US that they were
able to keep their freedom from Germany and Russia.
and you also have to face the fact that Russia would not improve matters much. sure they have lots of men. but they are just as lacking in equipment.
most of the vaunted Russian fleet is GONE. rusting hulks sitting pretty much abandoned. and the rest of Europe is not in much better shape. the mighty
English fleet, the once mighty French and Spanish fleets have been prety much gone since the end of ww2 if not long before even that. and lets face it
such a war would pretty much be another "battle of the Atlantic". you would need to get your men and especially equipment from Europe to America.
which would require huge naval support as well as supply ships. things that really do not exist in Europe. you could with Russia being a prt go
across the northern route, but that would put Canada pretty firmly on the side of the US. because of course that would mean invadeing Canada to get to
the US. not something most Canadians would tolerate if they were not fully in support of such a war. which again means there would have to be a damned
good reason for it.
all in all not something very likely to happen. something that would take years just to even think of doing it. years in which the US and Canada would
also be preparing for.
