Well, guys, I guess this is it! We waited too long and ignored the warnings and now it's just too late. Those carbon dioxide molecules are out for blood and they're going to crash our economy now. And even worse, it's all Donald Trump's fault!

Yes, that's right... our President did this to us!

He actually made the economy better, and in doing so made the elite realize the economy matters. So now instead of freezing in the fiery flood and becoming racists and xenophobes, which no one seemed to care about, the Democrats in Congress and the Church of Global Warming are going with the economy as their favorite vote-for-me/doom porn prediction.

I wonder if I can get some carbon credits now for cutting holes in a border fence? After all, that has to appease the carbon dioxide molecules...

(In order to be tolerant of those who didn't get the above post, that was sarcasm pointing out how the UN seems to have picked up on the same thing the DNC has... gotta make things simple for some people.)

I like to think of it as the carbon caste system.

Do the elite think all of us are stupid?

Yes.

And even when we're not, they're in charge of the governments, so they can let us eat cake. See Macron in France.

Once the economics show that climate change will have a large impact on the near future and the economy then, investors will push for environmentally friendly technology. Then the conservatives will probably follow suit and drop their denial.

Denial of what? Socialism as a means of controlling the climate? That's the only denial I see.

they have got everything all wrong and backwards. although i strongly suspect that is on purpose. the simple answer is. do you want people to use alternative fuels/power sources? then make those alternatives CHEAPER. not make what is cheaper right now more expensive. but that is something the elite have no clue about. all they see is they can easily switch. they can afford new and more efficient things like appliances. they can easily afford electric cars (which i honestly have to say i doubt in the end are actually any better for the environment). they can afford to install solar panels and the battery systems they use (and again just how bad for the environment are they really in the end?). the thing is the masses can not afford that. yet if the could afford those types of things, they would switch in a heartbeat just to save money that they don't have. as the saying goes "it takes money to save money". it quite literally also takes money to be green. seriously most people i know use appliances like refrigerators, stoves and washing machines, that are at least 20 or 30 years old, simply because they CAN NOT AFFORD to replace them. heck if they break down it is a serious issue to get the money together to repair them. they certainly can't just up and say "i need a more efficient refrigerator and stove", and then go out and buy one. the same goes for cars. many people i know a "new" car for them is over ten years old. because that is what they can afford. they certainly can not go out and buy a new hybrid or electric car. which cost even more that the same model with a gas or diesel engine. most people i know would love a solar power set up. but there is no way they can afford the thousands of dollars they cost. and yet with these stupid carbon tax type things it is exactly these people that are being hurt. because not by choice of their own, but by financial circumstances have no choice but to use more energy or gas. and the only way that can change is if those more efficient things are cheap enough for them to get. or to be completely honest for many, they would quite literally need to be given them. so why don't all these rich people doing all the complaining, whining and fretting about the environment and human caused climate change put their money where their mouths are? if they are so concerned why don't THEY finance those who can not afford it to upgrade for saving energy and fuel? like they could trade people a equal sized electric vehicle for that old clunker they are driving. or trade old appliances for new efficient models. why don't people like Musk sell their cars for the actual cost of manufacturing them? why do they insist on copyrighting everything and charging royalties if you want to use it, which raises the price of everything? why don't they sell their personal jets for scrap and fly with everyone else? why don't they downsize their living quarters to save energy?

heck one of the stupidest thigs in this whole thread is "UN summit urged to end all coal burning and introduce substantial taxes on emissions". the ONLY WAY that could actually happen is for things like appliances and the electricity to run them [become affordable. you see there are quite literally millions of people who use coal andor wood for all thei cooking, heating, and even light. they do so because quite simply they can not afford[i] things like electricity, or the things like a hotplate or stove, or heater to use it. i helped rebuild a home after an earthquake and cat 5 typhoon. as part of it we raised a little bit of extra money and gave the people the choice between a small stove and a small refrigerator. they chose the refrigerator, since that would let them safely keep food. and they could even sell some ice candy to all the kids in the area and make a little bit of money to help pay for the electricity. since they had the only fridge except for things like stores in the area. and that they could easily keep on cooking on wood and coal like everyone else. before that they were one of the lucky ones who had both a lightbulb and a plug that could be used for a radio. i personally found it ironic to see in a classroom where most of the kids were lucky if they had one lightbulb to use at home. had posters telling everyone that they need to use less energy and that by cutting down electricity usage they would be saving the planet. which means that what they are really telling those kids is to burn more coal to save the planet. since that way they wouldn't need to turn on the light, or use a hotplate to cook. so until they make things like appliances and electricity affordable, there is no way coal will not be used. and you have to admit that with currant technology, a coal powerplant puts out a lot less polution a CO2 that everyone having coal and wood fires going all the time.

Oh heavens! If we made something cheaper for the heathen unwashed, then they have more money left over, and with more money, they have more freedom! Egads! We can't let them have control over their own lives like that.

No, they know what they're doing. People who are kept in grinding poverty and at a subsistence level have neither the time nor the energy to rebel. They're too busy just surviving. They're also too busy just surviving to educate themselves, so they also don't know what they should be rebelling against.

That's the target they're pushing us back toward.

Tackle climate or face financial crash, say world's biggest investors

yea right, given they have the most to loose, I bet they will contribute nothing to it either and they will lead the cry for the taxpayer to pay for it too.

I reckon if we "tackle climate" the correct way, it will cause a financial crash.

For example...
There must be some alternative fuel for vehicles than gasoline or electricity.
All new house builds should come with solar panels/small wind turbines.

These measures will impact the energy companies finances negatively for sure, which will impact the economy. There are many more examples.

I don't think so myself; After watching the video these notes I took came from I think the last thing that will happen is any kind of energy system will be invented that enables the home to be separated from the grid will be the LAST thing that happens.

Notes from video – ‘Take back your Power 2017 Smart meter documentary.’

Ask to see the health and safety assessments of smart meters.

Are the manufactures leaving the safety aspects of smart meters up to the utilities or organsations that want to install them.

Smart meters are a two way transmission device that ties into a much larger (global) grid system.

Smart meters have been known to cause fires.

There have been so many fires that insurance companies are now raising premiums.

Smart meters are computers and therefore they have to be maintained and they do not have the life span claimed. They have a life of 5-7 years.

Suppliers can change how the product is used and how billing works

Smart meters make the entire energy grid subject to cyber attack.

If the supplier can turn your unused air conditioner off but so can someone from Moscow or Shanghi. Moreover, they may also be able to prevent you from turning it off and they could let it run 24 hours a day.

The vulnerabilities of the internet are now being transferred to the energy grid.

Does your supplier guarantee to pay for the effects on my bill of cyber attacks on my energy supply.

There is a smart grid initiative happening in every part of the globe happeing at the same time. Comment by interviewee.
The smart grid opens the way for cyber terrorism on a massive, even global scale.

Smart meters have a code system for identifying which individual appliance or switch was turned on and off. From this they can then tell what was going on in that home and what time of the day those events took place. – interviewee comments.

It will not take long to build a personal profile of each person in the home in terms of what habits and inclinations of each individual within the home have.

There is no moral component in human technology unless humans insist it be there.

It may be that energy supply may become dependant upon your behaviour so they can control your behavior by controlling your energy supply.

There is no need to put in energy harvesting farms of various technology. Just let individuals use the technology and save all that land and metal in the form of transmission lines.

Smart meters would not exist if research into alternative energy technology was permitted and encouraged and was the subject of the amount of tax payers dollars was diverted from smart meters to home based energy technology.

Smart meters are going global; why? What’s the agenda behind it? The energy companies involved in smart technology are working across the world to exclude all other forms of energy generation and delivery.

What’s important is not how frequently the meters communicate with utility, what’s important is how frequently do they generate frequency fields. These fields are generated almost continuously. Interviewee.

The frequency fields are pulses but they are very frequent. The smart meter companies claim the ;smart’ part of the meter is only in contact the with suppliers facility 4-5 times per day. What they hold back is that these 4-5 times a day the smart metersd communicate to the facility, but that each ‘communication’ consists of up to 10,000 pulses, each about 4.5 milliseconds in duration. This occurs every few seconds 24/7. Sometimes there are up to 90,000 pulses per day – video maker.

Smart meter emissions is dirty electricity.

The impact of smart meter emission impacts the human body at the cellar level but cannot be felt by the human body.

The changes in the way the frequencies affect the blood return to normal when the body is sufficiently far enough from the source of the emission. Smart meters emit emissions weather or not they can be felt on the body.

Smart meter emission will likely become the first source of the occurrence of autism prediction.

The term smart was made up so as to intimidate critics and the unaware public.

Its highly likely that transmitters which have been fitted to phone towers and are far greater in capacity than is required for phones, was fitted to facilitate the transmission of smart meter technology.

5G may well have been developed for specific purpose of smart meters and their uses for other purposes is merely coincidental or are there to ‘protect’ smart meters.

We need to target the city councils as they are the key implementers of smart meters.

Telling us that we have to take our energy on the basis of how they are going to give to us is extortion.

The smart meter industry is saying to us; we are going to force this technology on you, we are going to lie to you, and now what are you going to do about it.

To succeed in what the smart meter companies are doing only requires that we choose to suffer in silence.

While there is some truth in your post, there are also some falsehoods:

If the supplier can turn your unused air conditioner off but so can someone from Moscow or Shanghi. Moreover, they may also be able to prevent you from turning it off and they could let it run 24 hours a day.

No. In order for an air conditioner to be forced on, there must be control of all disconnect devices. No smart meter can override a light switch, for example; if you turn off a light switch, the light goes off, period. Even if someone has a semi-automatic home, the smart meter and the automatic switches are on different IP addresses and would require different hacks simultaneously in order to force anything to run continuously. One can also simply 'unplug' anything in their home via the distribution panel ('breaker box').

Smart meters have a code system for identifying which individual appliance or switch was turned on and off. From this they can then tell what was going on in that home and what time of the day those events took place. – interviewee comments.

No. Simply not possible. The only way a profile of appliance use could be possible would be if every appliance were capable of communicating with the meter. In the first place, that would mean that every appliance would have to have a communications system built into its power input, which could not be hidden from anyone with even a passing knowledge of electrical energy. In the second place, every appliance would have to use the same protocol as the smart meter. Considering that nowhere near all electrical appliances even have the ability to communicate as you suggest, it would be an exercise in futility. Even most computerized devices do not have such circuitry; they actually have line filters in place that would prevent any power supply-based communication, in order to smooth and regulate the power input. Smart appliance communication is typically performed using RF signals, as in bluetooth or simple remote control codes.

Smart meters can provide instantaneous and even average electricity usage if the central office requests it, but they simply cannot say "the kitchen blender was turned on at 6:24:34 and off at 6:25:13."

Smart meter emissions is dirty electricity.

The impact of smart meter emission impacts the human body at the cellar level but cannot be felt by the human body.

While there is at present no definitive proof that high-frequency electronic signals are not harmful, there is also no evidence they are. In any case, the protocol used by a smart meter uses many times less EM frequencies than the typical Internet connection. That computer siting beside you, for instance, is a major source of high-frequency EM radiation. The CPU is likely running at a clock speed of 3-4 GHz, the memory bus lines are running at a few MHz, and the video processing is also producing high-frequency radiation. The power supply is a switching type unit with internal oscillations operating well into the high kHz range, producing very powerful EM waves. That's going on even if it is sitting there idle.

Cell phones, TVs, and a host of other devices all produce these waves. My feeling, as someone who works closely with EM radiation on a daily basis, is that the very fact we are still here and don't have additional arms growing out of our ears negates that argument.

In addition, the high frequency communications in a smart meter operates pretty much on demand. If no information is being requested, no information is being sent. Even when information is being exchanged, it is transmitted via electric wires, not via air waves as in a cell phone. To do so, that smart meter must be connected to the electrical office via a clear link, which means the transformers themselves must be capable of passing the high-frequency component while also passing massive amounts of low-frequency power. That would make the transformers a much more critical concern than the meter on the side of your house.

Really, you should think before you believe.

Thanks for your input. Perhaps the video makers and those interviewed were incorrect.

However smart (dangerous) meters are electro mechanical gadgets like all sorts of meters. They are subject to development and improvement.

In any event; the technical capacity of these meters will increase as time goes by and will soon reach the described technological capacity.

I cannot think of any reason why smart technology will be exempt from this rule save perhaps for government regulation.

I very much doubt there will be any meaningful amounts of regulation considering the powers that should not be behind it donate to election campaigns

You're very welcome. And don't feel bad; there is a plethora of incorrect information out there. Rarely does a week pass without someone I know calling me up in a panic asking "is this possible?"

Yes, they are subject to technological improvement, as are the appliances in your house. However, it will require both to be technologically upgraded to communicate in order to make the allegations possible. I really don't see that happening any time soon, but I will also admit I have been surprised before and likely will be again by how much control people are willing to give up for convenience.

Rest assured this old redneck will not have any switches in his house that can be accessed by a power company.

There are some things that the power companies can do with smart meters. They can determine when one's HVAC is running, simply by using information obtained via instantaneous power usage. Electric heating/cooling is one of the largest uses of power in a typical home, so one could just look for high periods of power usage to determine when it is running. It might not be 100% accurate (turn on all the eyes and the oven on an electric stove and you'll get similar readings), but it would be close. There's just no way to individually turn specific circuits on and off.

The biggest advantage the power companies get from a smart meter is they save labor. The meters can respond to a signal requesting power usage and get back the readings without anyone having to stop by and write anything down, and power can be completely interrupted by a couple of mouse clicks from the central office (in case someone doesn't pay their bill on time). I worry about that capability personally... electricity can be vital at certain times, such as during extremely hot or cold weather, and making it so easy to turn it off could lead to humanity issues. Tthat's really my only concern though. We have recently switched to smart meters here, which bothers me for that lone reason.
