Witchrot: Not Too Damn Bad!

After reading that dumb article about Witchrot breaking up over some sh*t they probably promote artistically anyway, I checked out their EP.

You *might* have to EQ it to your preference with the app of your choice, otherwise... this is some sick, sludgy witchy-metal! Admittedly, the riffs are simplistic, yet, I'm hooked on this particular work, and will always try to keep a copy on hand.

They suck.

I mean.. badly.

I have almost perfect pitch hearing and that was.... horrible.

Hopefully they form a new band of all new members and keep the name.

It can't really get any worse, musically.

But I like the band name.

While I do enjoy sludge metal from time to time, I've yet to find an applicable time to actually listen to it.

In my opinion, its absolutely fantastic for long drives and road trips. That goes for a lot of "slow burn" music too (the stuff that takes a while to get to the "point").

As for Witchrot, that recording is painfully bad. Sounds like there might be potential for some decent, albeit typical, sludge.. but poor recording will ruin even masters of the craft (see what I did thar?).

In this day and age, there isn't much excuse for it either. Low cost recording setups are prevalent.

Then again, I've never been a fan of "wall of noise" type music, so maybe that's what they were going for and its just not my thing. Even then though, they didn't quite pull it off.
