Does anyone else realize that television broadcasting is performing mass brainwashing on the populous?

brain·wash·ing
n.

1. Intensive, forcible indoctrination, usually political or religious, aimed at destroying a person's basic convictions and attitudes and replacing them with an alternative set of fixed beliefs.
2. The application of a concentrated means of persuasion, such as an advertising campaign or repeated suggestion, in order to develop a specific belief or motivation.

I guess the real question is: What is it that "they" want us to believe?

Of course man, it is called the news. That is why anyone who wants the real truth doesn't watch the news. Cuz they always exaggerate and get stuff wrong. Read some books on the recent Iraq War and you'll be shocked how much the media changed around and made wrong about the facts regarding how the war was going and such.

With respect to the current Iraq "war". I'm wondering what is the purpose of
the constant daily reporting of "yet another car bomb exploded today and
xx number of people were killed". I mean, come on, is this really headline
news? Is it an effort to keep people supporting the so called war? It seems to
me that it would have the opposite effect.

Also, I'm wondering why the prison torture scandal was allowed to be reported.
I'm fairly certain the military has pretty good control of what is allowed to be
reported within the United States. So what was the purpose of letting this
come out?

I just watched a world war 2 USA propaganda film. The purpose seemed to be to convince young Americans to support the war and enlist. To be honest I found it to me much more powerful then the stuff you tend to see on the news. It had a clear selling point and related well to the audience (young American teenagers). As far as propaganda goes this was excellent. The use of animation graphic was moving, despite the limits of late 30s early 40s tech. I was actually aware of a serious effect on my emotional state. This film was much better then anything modern I have seen.

The point is: either the propaganda masters supposedly controlling the media have forgotten how to do what the people that made the WW2 stuff did.

Or they have gotten so good at it we don’t even realize what they were doing (I could feel a change of mood and sentiment whale watching the film, that has never happened in such a way when I watch regular TV)

You are correct in your thinkings. We have become so much easier to brainwash that they no longer need to go so far. They arent desparate anymore, theyve already got the mass population under their control. When I see the news I usually discern what is real and what is just propaganda. I mostly watch it just to be aware of major things like martial law and whatnot.

Have you seen very recent "enlistment" commercials for the military? That should give you an indication on the types of emotion "they" are evoking at this point in time..........it's all about the indulgence of ego, not patriotism anymore..........

F.Y.I. - You can get a decent understanding of their techniques by recognizing the type emotional/chemical responses evoked by these commercials; our bodies were built to react. All it takes is awareness.

Sadly the average person watching tv is not as smart as you, they just assume if there are car bombs and problems over there then Bush is right to keep our military there. I agree with you it should have the opposite affect. As to why they reported on the prisoner abuse and scandal, I believe the reason they reported on it is because we are now truly global, a lot of people travel to other countries, we also have the internet and a lot of alternative news sources such as our news board here. So what has happened IMO is that in the past they might have gotten away without reporting it but now they can't. What usually happens with this type of thing is they report as little on it as possible or the same thing over and over and when it is nothing new people stop listening and also if you will notice they usually bring to the forefront some other major scandal or issue like gays marrying or abortion. Most of our major media outlets are owned by corporations that are making money off of this war; that is why you won't hear reports like, it is being reported over 100,00 Iraqie civilains have been killed in this war from our major media outlets.

If I could only find the book, it discusses how Hitler said marching is the best way to increase your followers and supress opposition; comparing to televisions ability to mesmerize you and become a boob. (Remember, it's called the boobtube for a reason.)

I'll let you know if I find it.

ok this is a little off topic... but... when listening to the digital cable music channels... such as the techno channel. I have state of the art 7.2 digital surround. I'll notice that when I turn the tv on there will be a loud annoying almost mind numbing high pitch frequency that it gives off. And when I turn it off it goes away. I have always been one of those people that could tell if a monitor was on in another room because i could hear the faint high pitched sound. Anyone else that has a simular setup like mine, I urge you to try this out for yourself. I've found that with techno music it is more pronounced because of the wide frequencies that are produced. But the way this high pitched sound coming from the TV makes me feel is the more interesting part. It almost zones me into the tv and I find it harder to even concentrait on the music. Now hows that for mind control?
FYI I have a run of the mill samsung 27 inch 5yr old TV.

I have a satellite dish and a sound system and I have noticed that this sound is from my tv volume being turned up high, try turning it down and see if that helps, like you I can hear those sounds too, of couse it may not be this.
About my hearing a funny happening, my brother and his friend came home drunk, they were standing on the porch, I was in the kitchen standing at the storm door (the glass was in the door, no screen as it was winter) and my brother's friend whispered, "Hey man straighten up, your mother is standing at the door watching us." I opened the door and said, "I am not his mother." He looked shocked that I had heard him and said, "I don't know who the blankety blank you are lady but you sure got great hearing!" I nearly fell off the porch laughing at him. That was one of the funnier ones, of course since I can hear a pin drop I also hear people talking about me when they are whispering, its kind of funny but painful sometimes. Do you hear things like this also?

As for brainwashing, I don't think most intelligent adults are at risk the way the kids are, and I wonder if any parents actually realized what their children are being exposed to.

Occaissionally I have been in my bosses office mid to late afternoon and he has basic cable as part of our business internet cable package. I have seen things during this time that have dropped my jaw due to it's sexual content that go well beyond anything I have seen during the hours I am at home. This includes both programming and ads during the hours that kids are home from school, but most parents aren't around. Monday I saw an ad that I think if I described it in detail I would be in violation of ATS TOS. Seriously, they are being exposed to sexual awareness in a way that goes beyond what I could imagine and is obviously targeting them. If I hadn't seen it myself I would not have believed it was even possible.

You have been beliving what "they" want you to blieve all your life and never suspected it. "They" shape the minds of your children under the guise of Education and you say, "My kid is getting a good education." "They" love children. Children grow up to be just like "them." Who are "they"? They are the ACLU and Socialist.............

............On Jan. 10, 1963, Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr., D-Fla., read a list of 45 communist goals into the Congressional Record. Below are the communist goals being implemented by the ACLU in their quest to destroy America's culture and traditions:

* Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

* Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

* Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings," substituting shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.

* Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

* Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

* Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and television.

* Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural and healthy."

* Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

* Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

* Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the communists took over. Obliterating the American past, with its antecedents in principles of freedom, liberty and private ownership is a major goal of the communists then and now.

* Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

* Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Which brings us the the National Education Association - another organization who's agenda is to destroy the very fiber this nation was founded on by not teaching your children:

* In 1936, the National Education Association stated the position from which it has never wavered: "We stand for socializing the individual."

* NEA specialist Paul Haubner, "The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school; . that is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. Our goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values."

* Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard, had this to say: "Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It's up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well - by creating the international child of the future."

* In the Humanist Magazine, Jan./Feb 1983, John Dunphy wrote: "The battle for mankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom . The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between the old and the new . the rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism."

* Bureaucrats, politicians and educators regularly appear on television blaming either parents or lack of funds for the failure of our schools. Their prescription is always the same: more money and more government control. For well over 50 years, American voters have fallen for these fallacies. Victor Gollancz, a famous socialist publisher, explained why he believed that socialism would take over America: "Christians are not exactly bright, so it will be easy for socialism to lead them down the garden path through their ideals of brotherly love and 'social justice.'"

When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already...What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community." (Adolf Hitler in a speech given on November 6, 1933)

but other than that, I stay away from the News or TV programs that try to get you to change that kind of stuff.

Sorry pal but there is something wrong with your setup, probably the TV. It's probably the high voltage transformer.

I have a Sony trinitron and a 6.1 Onkyo surround (read reviews), and I don't have anything like that, with the exception on some noise of some channels (european).

I use optic cables to connect everything.

I am one of those people of the first generation ever "raised" on
television so I know the effects it can have on how people think.
Back when I was a kid though, the programming seemed much
more "innocent" than it is now... Mr. Ed, Green Acres, The Brady
Bunch and so forth were quite entertaining to us.

Back in the 60's when I was a little kid there was lots of coverage
on the Vietnam war. I remember seeing it on every evening. The
footage was often bloody and did'nt try to paint a prettier picture
than what it was.

I think that maybe back then the media actually helped to bring
an end to that conflict with their accurate and real reporting of
it.

I'm not so sure that allowing the prison torture scandal to be reported was
a "slip-up" or even accidental. Perhaps I'm just paranoid but I think the
gov. has better control over what is reported than that. Meaning if they
wanted to kill the story it would have disappeared very quickly. Instead
you heard about it night after night along with pictures and graphic
descriptions.

Perhaps it was propaganda intended for the enemy. Fear of being tortured
my keep some people from joining the cause. It was likely reported on the
US media so that it would be picked up by the foreign media and get the
message out.
