As France braces for another round of violent protests this weekend in Paris and the rest of the country, embattled French President Emmanuel Macron is a missing man as his government tries to curb the chaos caused in part by his unpopular plan to hike gas taxes.

Emmanuel Macron goes AWOL as protests, violence plague Paris

France is plunging into anarchy, and Macron has seemingly disappeared.

I hope this doesn't blow up, and become a complete European meltdown...

So... Where in the world, is Emmanuel Macron?

My guess would be, hiding from the protesters that are on the verge of revolution, due to the policies of globalism and the influx of migrants that refuse to assimilate and instead bring their failed and violent ideologies with them.

This isn't about gas taxes.

The still have any working guillotines over there?

It's not that simple, the migrant issue is only the tip of the iceberg, and it's only a minority of the population that feel that way about the migrants, the widening gap between rich and poor is the main driving force, the working class are fed up just scraping by, in fact you Americans could learn a thing or 2 about how to protest an out of control government that lines it's own pockets at the expense of the people.

Is there even a single joke concerning the French that hasn't had more turns than a twenty dollar New Orleans whore?

But, I guess it's an "Old" culture.

The rest of the world puts up with their pansy-a$$ed pu$$yism because, what?

The Eiffel tower is like, COOL?

I'm guessing that he is in a country, that has no extradition treaty with France.

As far as protesting our out-of-control government?

We protest... right here on ATS.

Why should we burn our own neighborhoods? In this country, we only do that for professional sports teams that win a championship...

This is what the French do. It's in their heritage to just start tossing tables over political issues.

One of the main issues tho is that Macron wants to fix this, but can't, this is literally just an angry mob, there's no rhyme or reason behind what's going on, no leader. It's just chaos. He needs to order something soon before those who want nothing of this get hurt, hate to say it, but a curfew needs to be enforced in some areas.

No we shouldn't burn our neighbourhoods, but there much like in the U. S there is a minority of thugs and vandals that take advantage of the chaos of protesting.

The ruling class only enact real change when they see no other way to calm the masses, us protesting here on Ats has no impact on the real world. I'm pretty sure that in your constitution the part about the blood of patriots needing to be shed from time time was a direct reference to governments and the only thing they actually listen to.

I agree. there's a time for civility and there's a time to take your country back. cut the bs with this "let's just be friends and work this out like adults" crap

"those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable"

people don't listen in todays world, even when someone has a valid concern they are dismissed

This whole issue erupted over taxed fuel prices, which Macron addressed and wanted to compromise, and he is the process of fixing, or has fixed.

What's lingering on is minority groups of people complaining about other issues. It's literally just hooligans at this point dragging on, causing issues, and being a menace because they have a reason to bitch and complain now; riding off the backs of the true cause. It's a snow ball effect.

I agree. Americans are different though, because of the 2nd Amendment.

Thugs and vandals have no power over an armed homeowner. Likewise, the "ruling elite" know that they are out-gunned. For now...

We don't fear our government... that's why we set crap on fire when our local sports team wins a championship...

It makes zero sense, but... it's who we are...

While Macron said the tax was necessary to "protect the environment" and "combat climate change", protesters claimed the decision was yet another sign that the "arrogant" and "privileged" president is out of touch with regular folk struggling to make ends meet.

However, the protest movement was not only about fuel prices. It encompassed wider anger and frustration against the political establishment in general and President Macron in particular. As a result, the government's decision to abandon fuel tax hikes failed to calm tensions.

how sure are you?
