When someone sends me a p.m the icon showing I have a new message never lights up, why is this and can it be fixed?

I feel bad when I don't get back to people promptly, as I don't get notified when I receive their message.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Yep,
Either a member message or a mod spandingpraise...

The envelope does not light up.

S.O. turned off the envelope light for everyone some time ago.

The solution:
Check your Private Messages regularly.....even daily.

There is also a problem with PM’s that are sent , not being recieved. Even if you resend them, at times the recipient will not get it.

Experienced this with more than a few pm’s I’ve sent.

I'm not sure (maybe a Mod could confirm/deny?) but I would guess that PM's are handled the same way as replies to our posts. Sometimes I don't see replies until the next day. Just an observation from my time here.
