It's interesting until viewed from the side and then it seems obvious its just a rock or a aggregate of rocks.

If it is a rock, and im not claiming it isn't one, then why does the surface of it look different to the rest of the asteroid?
A meteorite stuck on an asteroid maybe?
Im almost 100% kidding...

The whole asteroid has a curious shape - it's not spherical but more like a giant dice cube.

Well there is no standard shape for a rock is there ?

Space threads are interesting rock threads not as much.

This is not a spoof or a drill -- this is a genuinely weird-looking form on the asteroid that a US probe just arrived at. I find it extremely interesting.

Whatever it turns out to be, and a natural explanation may well present itself, I hope the openness of the NASA team encourages folks to accept that there isn't any over-arching pre-release alien evidence coverup in force. This would never have gotten out, in that case.

There's a video of Bennu's complete rotation in which this wierdnik appears prominently as something jutting out from the surface.

There is some serious digitization there with the black (not on the grayscale)
It would be difficult to hypothesize until that misleading distraction was corrected.

Shapes I can understand but wouldn't textures be more consistent? I think the pics are too low in definition at the moment, to actually come to any sensible conclusions. For what it is worth, I think it is a rock.

ITS A ROCK!! FFS!

Technically by metallurgical composition your car is a rock.

Doesn't mean it is one.

No.. technically a car would be a mineral.

And all rocks are minerals..... Just a more generic term.

Not a very good landing place for the Millenium Falcon either....

I don't know. There are some odd-shaped rocks on this asteroid, true. But nothing that immediately screams out "ARTIFACT!" Also, we don't know how many eyes looked at this image before it was uploaded. More than a few, I suppose.

It's difficult for me to imagine that there is not some strict protocol for delaying the release of images that might have actual and undeniable indications of artificiality in them. Not that it has happened so far, but just in case. I don't think anyone would want that kind of information unleashed on humanity without someone first looking at it very, very closely. And considering the possible repercussions, maybe not even then.

You just exposed the exhaust port to the reactor core, now we can send in red one ...

Since we're nit picking... A rock is a naturally occurring composite of two or more minerals. A car would not be naturally occurring. However, a man made synthetic mineral is still a mineral....

Asteroids come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are solid bodies, while others are smaller piles of rubble bound together by gravity.

LINK

Gravity attracts smaller stuff to the surface.

Nit picking further it’s one or more minerals that make a rock.....

In this case the proportions seem to be off for gravity to be the sole factor binding the object to the asteroid’s surface.

The side view ruins the "its a UFO" wish, the side view exposes it as just what it is, a ruck and not the only rock jutting out of the main body...

Come on people, both video's sow its just a rock that under certain shadow conditions make it look square when its just a big boulder..

Technically no it's not. There have been processes used that make it different to it's original form.
