When we vote we get a representative, the problem is that the representative may or may not follow the voters values on the issues. You add to this that representatives will most likely be following the parties line on the issues and any intelligent person voting should feel slighted if not cheated by the system. The system was never meant to represent we the people, but rather to represent those with money, i.e. our modern day lobbyist has more say over the issues than any voter ever had.

With our modern communications we should be able to vote the issues, screw the parties and their power over us. It is time we come to the realization that we do not need a representative government, but one that actually works of and for the people.

The political dynasties and present day party politics need to end, if we really want to drain the swamp!

And don't forget to tax the rich...

...they won't go hungry!

A Representative government is not the problem. Nor is Capitalism. The problem is a corrupt system which is corrupt due to greed. What enabled that greed? 1. Corporations are people 2. Corporate Lobbyists 3 Criminals who were voted to represent the Constitution and people who chose to follow the money. [see #2]

Saying it is only because of the 2 party system is disingenuous when looking at many European countries who have more than 2 parties who use the first pass the post system. Are they any less corrupt because they have more than two parties?

The solution isn't to burn the whole system to the ground and try something new which is actually old like "NEW Socialism". The problem is to treat the disease called Corruption and Greed which starts with those who make our laws and exempt themselves from said laws by writing laws allowing them to do things you and I would go to prison for, but they won't.

Who are "the rich"? Could you please give me a concise description of that group of people?

Could you point out where I said this???????????????????

A Representative government is not the problem.

We have been trying to make this system work for many generations, yet as you point out it in fact does not work here or abroad.

The solution isn't to burn the whole system to the ground and try something new

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

You can't stop greed though.

It's a natural human trait that we all struggle with from time to time. Even the most devout religious guru must face and overcome greed.

And it's not a curable ailment, it can only be treated temporarily. A year from now you might experience greed again, even over something small.

Sure you can catch yourself and correct this, but you will, by your very nature and survival instinct, experience greed on occasion.

Greed is one of the greatest demons of all, and he can conquer any of us at any time.

Even I struggle with greed often and I am very well equipped to combat it. I bet most people succumb the minute the opportunity arises to take just a lil bit more for themselves.

I bet they have great excuses for it too.

It doesn't work because of corruption! If you burn it to the ground and start a whole NEW enlightened system? Care to explain to me how you will do away with the same greed and corruption with a new set of fallible greedy human beings in power? Corruption is due to the power and money we bestow upon those who represent us. For example, Bernie Sanders, he certainly doesn't seem to mind living his wealthy lifestyle being a representative and he certainly entertains lobbyists and their gifts just like every other elected official, so if his belief in Socialism is so strong? Why doesn't he live with the funds and pay check as those he supposedly preaches too?

How has he set an example while enjoying the wealth of Capitalism and ripping off his constituents?

We have two choices:

Liberty or Tyranny.

If Liberty comes with corruption, fraud, brainwashing, theft, lies, etc....

Isn't it still better than outright Tyranny?

I bet you the Tyranny comes with those negatives along with many more far worse effects.

So really the only thing to do with corruption as a representative republic is to:
1) Hold everyone accountable
2) Keep at it and remain vigilant

Hard work sure.
High price to pay.

But really guys we are getting a Bargain Deal here. Our Freedom came too cheaply and people don't appreciate it's true value.

As per my 2nd post I agree with you!

Corporations are NOT people and the money used to prostitute our politians by multi national corporations and some of these "Think Tanks" need to be outlawed.

We know what their salaries are, but yet when we look at their wealth they accrued as a representative, who do they represent? Not We The People, but those with the cash to buy their favors so they get re elected. Hell, Trump came when he started his run and told most of us what we already knew. He had money and he bought politicians to get what he wanted! It amazed me at the amount of people against him lost their damned minds when he said it! Ummm like your politicians don't take money from outside interests contrary to ethics?

I agree with exception to Our Freedom come cheaply, unless of course you are speaking of those who don't appreciate the freedom we have. Other than that many people gave their lives for what little bit of freedom we now have and I am sure many more will die to keep it.

I say it came too cheaply because many of us are Free for free.

Only the few paid in their blood sweat and tears so that we all, and our posterity, benefit.

When someone gives you something that you did not struggle for, you are likely to take it for granted and not cherish it as it ought to be.

This, this is the crux of the problem in modern America.

I more than most appreciate the centuries of sacrifice for our freedoms.
I am referring mostly to modern liberals preaching the marxists crap.

The problem is everyone votes their party not their constituents. It wasn’t always that way, but it has been getting worse as the political divide grows. It has to do with special interest money and unethical politicians not the system.

Please tell me how capitalism doesn't ultimately lead to this. The goal of capitalism is "greed" based. It's money over everything. If you can sell more of a crappy product and wipe out the competition (whether the competition is selling a better product is a non-issue) through whatever means necessary... then that is capitalism, personified. In fact, that is deregulated capitalism personified. There's no such thing as corruption in capitalism. Capitalism doesn't care. Deregulated capitalism will buy and do whatever it needs to to triumph... that may be through buying politicians, that may be usurping all the ad space (or the avenue to provide ad space), that may be buying up all the blocks downtown that have foot traffic, that may mean writing laws and hiring lawyers to ensure a win, that may mean moving to the cheapest country and exploiting horrible labor practices, that may mean becoming a global empire with strongholds in tons of countries, that may be at the expense of a country (or many), even if it was the country that first birthed you.

Capitalism is greed. And when stepping outside of the fear-based rhetoric perpetuated by the corporatists, we are in no danger of a one-world government. At least not one that is made possible by governments. Corporatism is where the globalists truly thrive. It is where they can have to most power. Just look at who runs the USA now. A corporate globalist. We've all been had. And we are effectively fighting the war that they don't have to.
