I don't see how mentioning a livable wage is out of bounds. She mentions this: "If that’s the case, they can cut down on staff to pay them well. Or raise the MRA."

Sounds pretty reasonable.

incorrect.

try again with reading comprehension

This week I went to dive spot in DC for some late night food. I chatted up the staff. SEVERAL bartenders, managers, & servers *currently worked in Senate + House offices.* This is a disgrace. Congress of ALL places should raise MRAs so we can pay staff an actual DC living wage.

so where in there does she say her salary is a living wage?

In her tweet, Cortez isn't asking for a raise for herself. She's expressing her surprise and dismay that so many staffers and interns have to work two jobs, one of them being public service and the other being food and beverage service! She's asking that staffers, and interns, be paid a "living wage".

Outta here with those facts! Brown woman bad.

Oh get off it this isn’t a racial issue, though she does love trying to turn things into them.

not sure you can read.

She said her salary was a living wage and that interns should also get it.

You don't consider making $174k a year a living wage? I would consider that a living wage, since one can live decently off that salary.

She did, it just took the OP multiple posts to actually get to the relevant tweet. Depending on how one chooses to define "living wage" it's either the amount needed to afford a decent lifestyle or the minimum amount needed to afford basic necessities.

I'm still not sure why six figures isn't a living wage, though.

Oh for god sakes just stop already.

She said that politicians vote themselves a living wage. Nowhere did she say that interns should be paid as much as the elected officials, only that they should be paid enough to live without a second job.

What's really amazing is how so many long term career politicians have become very wealthy millionaires from that "living wage"

Will she too sell her soul, then from one of her many homes in the future preach to us all about how we've got to do more for the poor while hoarding all the money she can get and exploiting her position for more, filling bank accounts on and off the books while avoiding paying taxes through every loophole possible?

It's not, every state has a minimum hourly wage.
People making 10 times that amount still have the same minimum wage.
Same applies here.
It takes so much to live in Washington.
She makes more than that.

One would think so, yea. Even with DC being absurdly expensive to live "decently" in.

We have to consider, tho, that Congress folk have to maintain two homes, one in DC and one in their home state.
